Good food and nice atmosphere!

I am always happy with Carluccio’s restaurants and this one was no exception. To me it is more than an ordinary chain restaurant; it has more character and nice and relaxed atmosphere. I order tortellini and as a man that eats much, I was expecting something to make me feel full. What I got was a dish around 10 (maximum) pieces. Of course i didn't order anything else, as this was already expensive. Also, make sure you don't go in peak times as you have to wait for a table.

The staff are working hard for tips here, which is fine, but it shows a little too much in that when they are being nice to you, they aren't really. We chose from the fixed price menu at three courses for £22.00 for lunch. I had goats cheese on aubergine with a tomato sauce which was simple but very tasty,... More

We called in here opposite south Kensington underground station for some lunch before going to the RAH to see Madam Butterfly. Apart from a 15 minute wait for a table the service, staff & food were exceptional. We are regular visitors to Carluccios in Manchester & Chester so always try to find one on our travels as we are never... More

We dined here the other day on a Thursday evening at about 6.00pm. Big mistake. Whilst nobody wants to go to a restaurant that has no other customers, it is also possible that a place can be too busy. When we arrived, every single table was occupied. We were told there would be a 20 minute wait, so we decided... More

We love the food here and live close by. The reason why we are not regulars is simply because of the poor service. We have to ask for menus, we have to constantly remind waiters of our orders, and trying to get the bill is difficult. Such a shame, perhaps if there were more staff it would not be such... More

A brand as popular as Carluccio's needs to be sure that all of its locations live up to expectations. The South Kensington Branch was heaving at lunchtime today. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti alla vongole . I initially ordered salade nicoise until I was told it's tinned tuna (for £9.50!) Instead I ordered a herb omelette with a salade verde and... More

My wife and I visited London recently. We stayed in South Kensington and came upon this restaurant. We had lunch there the first day we arrived. We had spinach ravioli and it was delicious. The sauce was exquisite. We liked it so much that we came back that evening for more. Should I say anything else! You will not regret... More

There's nothing much to shout about here. It's a chain style restaurant with pretty decent food. This particular place has a premier location, nice interior and good service with a smile. The service, although pleasant when you get it, is slow. I went at a lunchtime and the place wasn't packed. Everyone looked very busy but not serving customers. They... More

I've had both great and not so great experiences at this restaurant, amazing place to have breakfast, but lunch service is not as good. Food is average, nothing special. All in all a decent restaurant.

Staying in South Kensington

Neighborhood Profile
South Kensington
With its ivied mews, row upon row of Poppins-esque white washed mansions, and placid garden squares, it's easy to see the charms of South Kensington. And with superb access to Hyde Park, Holland Park and Kensington Gardens, as well as the largely child-friendly and mostly free Museum Quarter (not to mention more major attractions like Royal Albert Hall) such charms are easy to make the most of. As welcoming and cosmopolitan as it is reserved and residential, South Kensington is always a hit with visitors.
