Gaucho always delivers

We visited early on a Friday evening, straight from work. This is the first time I had been to this branch of Gaucho, similar interior as all the others - dark with lots of cow prints. We chose the trio of medallions to share with sides of sweet potato and chorizo, black quinoa (highly... read more

My steak was delicious, my husbands less so as it had some sinew running through it. The chips were rather greasy. The waitress was terrible - really pushed the starters when we only ordered a main course each, sploshed our wine all over our glasses and very rudely took the wine off my husband when we was topping up his... Very tasty and juicy Argentinian beef, many different and unusual cuts. Fantastic salads. Great wine selection, even though the selection should represent more high quality wines now available in Argentina. Very attentive and quick service, was there for lunch by myself but didn’t feel it. Fast kitchen. The only down side is the quality of the Espresso.

Gaucho is not cheap, and is really a place for a treat. The steak is probably the best I have ever had. The staff are very knowledgable and helpful in choosing the right cut of meat from a board they bring round. The service from start to finish was very attentive and friendly, and unlike in some other fairly upmarket... More

Did not have a dinner here, but 3 breakfasts. The continental is OK, not a lot of choice, pretty basic but more and better than in US. Eggs benedict were horrible, worst I ever had. I did not like the setting, chairs covered with cowhide, not pleasant to people who love and care for animals. the service was very slow.

This was my first experience of a Gaucho restaurant and we were taken there by business colleagues. The restaurant itself is very dark and takes a while for your eyes to adjust! It is underground which means it's never going to have a huge amount of natural light but the decoration of the restaurant (mostly black) certainly doesn't help in... More

We were lucky enough to have Gaucho in the same building as our hotel. Decided to eat our first dinner in London here. Our waiter was really nice, and took her time explaining the different types of steak they served. All three of us chose different a different kind of steak, and we all loved our food. We came kind... More

Spent the evening here on an informal work celebration, some of the best food I've ever had - also worth a mention is the excellent wine menu. The majority of the restaurant is underground so it's quite cosy and a very comfortable spot for an evening dinner particularly in the winter.

I took my boyfriend as I fancied something a little more special than the norm for dinner. They have two wine menus - regular wine, bottles anything between £30-80, and a 'Fine and Rare' wine menu. We opted for a £33 bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon. Our fillet steaks each cost about the same. I prefer minimal fat on meat and... More

Staying in City of London

Neighborhood Profile
City of London
From its ancient past as a Roman trading outpost to its 21st century status as the wealthiest square mile in the world, the financial district known simply as “The City” is one of London's most historic and fascinating neighborhoods. Here high rise office towers such as Norman Foster’s Gherkin mingle with Roman ruins and architectural marvels from virtually every era in between, including Christopher Wren's glorious St.Paul's Cathedral, and John Soane's dauntingly classicist Bank of England. This neighborhood is also home to some of the finest restaurants and plushest hotels in Europe, in addition to an assortment of of watering holes, upscale shops, and Tube stations. During the week, the City is abuzz with white collar workers going about their business; the weekend sees this area turn into a quiet haven for sightseers.
