The food was OK, service OK. Felt annoyed with the sneaky way they included the 'optional 12.5% service charge' in the bill total. I would probably go again, next time trying a different dish (i ordered kedegree this time) and maybe a different branch to see if my experience would be different.

Ate here last night - before opera at Holland Park Very happy with the two for one cocktail offer which meant I had two Absolut martinis for £7.50 - seemed to be lots of people enjoying that offer! Food was great - very nicely presented and cheerfully served. Particularly enjoyed my perfectly cooked tuna and my companions fish and chips... More

After a day of museum, we walked down the high street and we read the menu decided to give this a try. A good decision from us as the dishes were quick to the table, fresh and delicious. The side order of chips was yummy, maybe the portion was a bite small for really hungry people. Overall experience was good,... More

Good "modern British" menu, which basically means stealing good stuff from any cuisine plus upmarket pub food. Very reasonably priced, especially for Kensington. Wine list is very good, and again, moderate prices. Above all, excellent service and really enjoyable visit.

Visited June 2014 Would not go back, we went here for drinks and wasn't made to feel special or wanted... I had to prompt the server after sitting there for about 10 minutes to take our order.... The staff didn't look like they wanted to be there, all in all disappointing, and wouldn't recommend

Kensington is pretty non descript for restaurants but balans is a cut above, especially for brunch. Eggs well cooked, nice bread and very tasty pancakes. Would definitely go again

From the web site we chose Balan's this weekend and it exceeded all expectations. Good food you would expect, and we got that. Good service too you would expect and we got that. You cannot anticipate the buzz though and that is what Balan's is all about; it's fun to be there. So go. We also witnessed one simple act... More

A return visit on a very quiet evening during the tube strike, lovely meal, although a tad slow on the service side, I went for the fish and chips, my friend - the Balans Burger, great food apart from the chips, they are enormous, tasteless, lumps of potato, huge chunks that were so obviously not fresh and had been re-heated,... I usually dodge chain restaurants, but our first choice was closed, second choice was not taking bookings, but really happy with the third! Our waiter was witty and amusing and interacted with us really well, always good to start a meal laughing! The cocktails were extremely moreish, I wish we'd had more time there. I opted for the Thai Red... More
