This place could be amazing but unfortunately the live music and good cocktails alone won't cut it. All waitresses (upstairs) are bordering on being rude, they all seemed like they wanted to be any other place but here. The food was average at best, regardless of the location, if you are paying £30 for a main, you don't expect to... More

My friend and I came here after going to the IMAX to watch a film. I bought the £26 bone on Sirloin steak with no sauce, chips on the side and a side salad. I had the steak rare but it arrive more of a medium rare. The flavour was amazing, even the fat around the steak taste brilliant (not... More

we go there for reasonable food - pretty ordinary - and slightly iffy service (they mean well, but are a bit lackadaisical) for the piano playing which is live, and the ambience - lively bistro effect - so going every once in a while is fine ...

We are regulars here when going to concerts or theatre on the South Bank. It's been here for decades in various incarnations and this most recent one serves reliable brasserie fare with a good choice of resonably priced wine. The setting under the railway arches is great - if a bit rumbly when the trains pass overhead. Its a nice... More

The staff were efficient, the food was good & the location is convenient. The restaurant does not open until 5pm but you can use the bar. The staff did not rush me, even though my companion was late.

Wandering around Southbank we stumbled upon this gem. The Archduke was a great find with an extensive menu which has something for everybody. Now I'm not a fussy eater, however I'm not quite into all of the pretentious food you may find in other restaurants around the city. The archduke not only offers great food and service but also a... Bar / cocktails. Very busy young crowd. Jazz can be iffy but when it's good its good. Acoustics not the brilliant and cannot compete with the ambient noise of conversations. Great fun. Drinks bit on the expensive side.

What a fun place the Archduke Restaurant is, set in the arches of the railway lines leading in and out of Waterloo station (but I couldn't hear or feel any trains). There are many different areas to eat or enjoy a drink. We were up one level from the entrance and had a pleasant view. In the adjacent bar there... More

Nice setting under the railway arches and jazz playing in the background. The Margarita and Long Island Ice Teas were good as was the Charcuterie. Service and the price were good too, would recommend.

Staying in Southbank

Neighborhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
