Service was really poor!

I've been to black and blue at borough before so wanted to try the archduke as we was in Waterloo. Service was really really slow. We ordered after 15 minutes of waiting, food took a while and then for them to clear our plates away and offer us desert it was another 20 minutes. It wasn't that busy... read more

Met some friends for a get together and decided to have some food at the Archduke. Hadn't been there in ages and was glad to see that the place still retained a good atmosphere and the food was a good standard. Service was prompt and friendly despite being busy. Price was average. A good alternative to the other eateries in... More

This restaurant is situated under the bridge outside the Waterloo train station. Because of that, it was too noise inside the restaurant. The noises are from 1) the eaters; 2) the train running above the restaurant creating a lot noises; and 3) the Jazz band sound (the band was good by the way), but they all added up to make... More

Loved the food here, amazing views and really great music! Only problem was that when the Jazz stopped we could hear the bass from the night club next door. But the cocktails and food certainly made up for this!

This was one of the obvious places to go to post-concert in the nearby Southbank center long before the venue had its latest redevelopment when a lot more choice was added. But despite the increased competition the Archduke is still here and still a characterful option. It sits nicely under the old railway arches with lots of exposed brickwork, around... More

Steak was top top draw. There was a really nice jazz band (not too intrusive just a good vibe), great staff. If you like steak, go here. Next time I am in London I will definitely be going back.

We went there as a couple on a saturday night and it was very busy, but in a nice way. There's live jazz music and the diners interact with the musicians. The general atmosphere is friendly, and the staff is very efficient. We didn't wait long for our orders and the meat was cooked to perfection. You hear the trains... More

This is a fantastic place and one of my favourites in South Bank if you want to spend a nice evening with your friends, live jazz every Friday which boosts up your pre weekend mood. The only downside is the menu I would say which I believe should be more extensive and adding a few more items would be a... More

Nice cozy place. Diner was reasonable with prices reasonable too. Especially love the Jazz programs in the evenings at dinner time!

Staying in Southbank

Neighborhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
