Steak, Jazz, cocktails....

It does exactly what it advertises. A colleague and I revisited this place after a couple of years. Delightfully, NOTHING had changed, we even recognized most of the staff. The food here is always good, if not a bit pricey, but to sit listening to live music in a lovely atmosphere, it's so worth it.

I can only think of two good things to say about this place - it's very convenient for the Festival Hall and they cooked my steak correctly. After that it's all downhill. It's part of a small chain with a steak and burgher style menu. My bullsh1t antenna twitches when I read marketing phrases like "steaks are aged for up... More

A friendly and welcoming environment. The live music created a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Slightly disappointed with the cocktails we ordered as they were very strong and not overly pleasant in flavour. Nonetheless the staff were pleasant and diluted our drinks where necessary. A nice place to sit and chat.

7 pm on Saturday evening we had no bookings and I thought we should book before we left the hotel. Using TripAdvisor I researched local area and The Archduke was close by and looked good. Quick phone call and then a returned phone call by the manager had our table confirmed for 830. Great location, great atmosphere, good banter with... More

Second visit to The Archduke and we enjoyed it far more this time. On our first visit we were sat down stairs on the ground floor close to the entrance. Too busy and too noisy. However, we had not booked and I wouldn't criticise the staff for trying to accommodate us. You really want to be on the highest mezzanine... More

Great food, great cocktails, great setting and great atmosphere. Only minor criticism is that it's maybe a little on the cramped side and could do with being a bit more spacious, but other than that it's spot on. If you like a bit of live music, a cocktail and a nice meal then I would recommend it.

Five minutes walk from Waterloo station and handy for theatre and arts. Booking highly recommended as is the food! Two couples shared delicious food, good wine and excellent surroundings for the evening for about £40/head including well-deserved tips.

We first visited the restaurant-wine bar more than three decades ago. It must therefore have been doing something well to survive so whilst in London last week we had the opportunity to return again as a couple with our friends and throughly enjoyed the food and wine. Certainly reasonably priced for London, wines sold by the glass were good quality.... More

Was recommended The Archduke before going to the Imax to see Star Wars. Arrived and shown to our table very attentive staff. We had the pre theatre menu that you can have before 7pm at special prices. All our food was excellent and the table service was spot on. Live Jazz music was playing from 7.30 . Lovely atmosphere and... More

I used to come to this winebar back in the 80s and 90s when I worked just across the river. Delighted to find it is still going strong. Same location, same name, different decor but still a great night out. Came in a big group - and we didn't have to pre-order - so refreshing - chain establishments take note.... More

Staying in Southbank

Neighborhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
