Good Food & Service

The staff were efficient, the food was good & the location is convenient. The restaurant does not open until 5pm but you can use the bar. The staff did not rush me, even though my companion was late.

Wandering around Southbank we stumbled upon this gem. The Archduke was a great find with an extensive menu which has something for everybody. Now I'm not a fussy eater, however I'm not quite into all of the pretentious food you may find in other restaurants around the city. The archduke not only offers great food and service but also a... Bar / cocktails. Very busy young crowd. Jazz can be iffy but when it's good its good. Acoustics not the brilliant and cannot compete with the ambient noise of conversations. Great fun. Drinks bit on the expensive side.

What a fun place the Archduke Restaurant is, set in the arches of the railway lines leading in and out of Waterloo station (but I couldn't hear or feel any trains). There are many different areas to eat or enjoy a drink. We were up one level from the entrance and had a pleasant view. In the adjacent bar there... More

Nice setting under the railway arches and jazz playing in the background. The Margarita and Long Island Ice Teas were good as was the Charcuterie. Service and the price were good too, would recommend.

Really rude blonde manager, we were waiting 40 mins for cocktails which were good but appalling service. Luckily we got our drinks on the house after complaining but the manager was incredibly rude.

Went here after visiting The National Theatre and had the fixed price 2 course meal for £16. Really lovely food, beautifully presented which was well worth the money. The restaurant was deceivingly spacious and the decor and furniture where tasteful and comfortable. My only criticism was that service was a little slow at times but it was very busy and... More

I love to celebrate my anniversary (14years), so went to The Archduke, Black and Blue chain. We wanted somewhere that did steaks and wasn't too far for us to travel too. Parking was fairly easy, using the NCP car park. Cost was what I expected, £9.00 for a couple of hours. Venue location was good. It's always bustling on the... More

Asparagus with soft boiled egg starter was delicious. Sirloin on the bone was disappointing. Tough and not much flavour. Service and ambiance was good. Good enough to go back and try a different cut.

I've been to black and blue at borough before so wanted to try the archduke as we was in Waterloo. Service was really really slow. We ordered after 15 minutes of waiting, food took a while and then for them to clear our plates away and offer us desert it was another 20 minutes. It wasn't that busy either...waiters seemed... Staying in Southbank

Neighborhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
