Food great, service could be better and beers colder

The steaks and starters were perfect, great atmosphere, quirky with the brickwork under arches visible. The guy on reception and one waitress was nice, the other waitress was surly, didn't ask how our food was, slopped the coffee as she shoved it on the table and second bottled beers hadn't been in... read more

I've been a regular at the Archduke for many years, however it seems to be declining in service and perception. Sadly, I won't be going back. There are better places on the south bank which offer a better service.

Shame they don't do draft beers. Didn't eat here but it was a nice atmosphere inside. Probably wouldn't return because they didn't state the £1 service charge before ordering.

Had a pre-theatre dinner here with 2 friends. Very friendly and efficient service. Good quality food at a reasonable price. Recommend the rack of lamb.

Have met up with friends at this restaurant 4/5 times now and have never had a bad meal/bad service etc. Always a lovely atmoshphere; never rushed when having meal like some restaurants; serving staff always pleseant and helpful. Good value for lovely food and drinks. Will be coming back again. Thanks Archduke for your continued value for money.

Popped in here for a few drinks on a busy evening after weather put pay to our outdoor plans - service was a bit slow, probably due to how busy it was, and being a large party we were fairly limited and had to split up in both the bar and restaurant areas. That said, the staff were very friendly... More

A catch-up meal with an old friend, so booked more for convenience than anything else. However turned out to be a good choice. Simple but well prepared food, straightforward service, and our table was overlooking the street so we had good views of the passing Friday night crowds. Be prepared however, for the noise. The restaurant is within the railways... More

After Champagne "flight" on the London Eye we were looking for somewhere to eat and found this place tucked under the railway by the Southbank Centre. With live music and seating arranged over different floors and outside it works well. Initially we were seated closer to the music than we wanted but were moved without problem to a quieter setting... More

To be expected - weekends get busy and noisy - not a place to go to enjoy conversation - 5 people on a table for 4 - chair stuck on the end in the aisle - but good service - cocktails wine all good - great steak and burgers - enjoyed puds - jazz is popular and adds to vibe

Four of us had lunch here. Two had choices from the a la carte lunch menu, and two of us had the set lunch at a fixed price for two or three courses. I had the latter, three courses for £20 and each course was well-presented, well-cooked and very tasty. The service was swift and professional, everyone enjoyed their food,... More

Staying in Southbank

Neighborhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
