I visited this restaurant as part of a party of business people and was less than impressed. The service was slow, although the staff were friendly. Tthe place was packed with tables and very busy so a conversation was almost impossible, especially with the jazz piano, guitar and accordian trio playing almost continuously. I could only shout at the person... More

Nicely appointed under the railway arches and friendly staff. Choice of food was good but the pre-theatre was rather too restrictive. Pork chop was good. The jazz singer and pianist were really good and not too intrusive. The downside was the noise and trembling when a train went overhead, and that happened quite regularly. Pity.

I am quite a regular customer as this place is pretty much perfect. They clearly care about their customers and reputation. The service is really fast and thoughtful - once I was there with a friend and they kept the restaurant open for extra 40 minutes just for us. Also they are pros in cocktail serving, I was pleasantly surprised... More

I can only speak for a Saturday evening when three of us went at 10PM. We all had steaks which were good albeit expensive. We were lucky to have a nice waitress and indeed all the service was good. The trouble was there was a loud band on the ground floor. Although our table was upstairs the noise was so... More

Ideal location right next to Waterloo station and serves lovely food, I chose from the lunch set menu (chicken and leek tart, sausage and mash, pecan pie and clotted cream). If truth be told I really fancied the steak as they had several mouth-watering cuts, but being lunchtime I fancied something a bit smaller. I was a bit surprised at... More

I went there thanks to the advice of a friend of mine, we received a warm welcome from the 2 security staff and promptly, and just after arrived the person in charge on the floor arrived and gave us a table (if i recall correctly his name is Paulo) Everything was fantastic, I had a chicken liver and foie gras... We hadn't made a booking so were delighted to get a table at 7.30 on a Friday evening. The Archduke has been part of the Southbank scene for over 30 years and has always been worth a visit. The service was friendly and professional. The food was good - we had spinach soup and chargrilled king prawns, who although they... More

Dean Moriarty would not be out of place in this beat-style jazz, cocktail, steak and wine bar, located right in the heart of London. The restaurant is built right into the Waterloo railway bridge, and while you eat the rumble of the trains over head actually adds a percussive ambiance. As a venue I felt it was fantastic, especially as... More

Stumbled upon this on route to a play in the Bargehouse behind the Oxo tower. Had the pre-theatre meal for £22 (3 courses). Lovely food and great value

Neighborhood Profile
Southbank
Big time attractions such as the London Eye and a thriving theatre scene (compliments of the National Theatre and the Young Vic) are but a few of the reasons that Southbank is such a collectively cherished part of town. With plenty of family friendly activities and venues lined up along a pedestrianized river bank between Westminster Bridge and Waterloo Bridge, visitors can always expect a casual and festive atmosphere. On top of all the fun stuff to do at Southbank is the opportunity to simply sit back and admire photo-op views of iconic landmarks like Parliament and St Paul's Cathedral, just on across the Thames.
