It is very good but not smashing

Great food and lovely staff this restaurant has been there for years so they are doing something right. However, after recently returning after a long time we found it to have been renovated. This has become a 'must-go' whenever we visit Liverpool (normally once a year) and once again it has lived up to expectations. I was a bit worried that it might be fully booked as it was a Friday and the Grand National was the next day but we were able to get a table without a problem. It was quite... More

Paper tablecloths, plastic covered chairs, plastic grapes and foliage hanging from the ceiling - and the most WONDERFUL food! I've been coming here since the 80s - I used to live half a mile away from it but, now I live 230 miles away, it's not as often, but a visit "back home" wouldn't be the same without an Afelia... This place just squeaks in at a four rather than a three because it stood out as one of the very few reasonably quiet and civilised places for a drink and meal in this part of central Liverpool on a March Saturday evening. Nearby interesting looking pubs like the famous Philharmonic, perhaps inevitably (there was a big match with Newcastle... More

Having visited this restaurant recently and I was very disappointed with the food as were the rest of the party I was with. I won't bore you with the finer details, but we all found the food to be overcooked, under seasoned and very over priced. I don't think I really need to add any more!

I have been visiting this restaurant since I was 16 when my father first took me about 37 years ago. Going into adulthood, I have had many a meal here over the years, celebrating my 40th and 50th birthdays with an all evening event each time, for around 50 friends. My wife and I stopped in, while passing last Saturday... More

Have wanted to visit Zorbas for a while now and we weren't disappointed...the staff were so friendly and efficient with humour thrown in, which made for a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere. The food was so tasty we shared some fish starters and there was more than enough to go around. The kebabs had a lovely authentic chargrilled taste, the kleftico... More

Having been to Cyprus, the Greek Islands and the Greek mainland for numerous holidays, Zorbas Restaurant in Hardman Street, Liverpool is better than anywhere. The food is truly superb, the staff really friendly, portions big and the prices great. Really worth a visit and highly recommended

I regularly go to this restaurant and must have tried most of the menu by now, and have liked everything. My favourites are the moussaka and calamari for main, and aubergine spread for starters. The bread is freshly baked and warm when it gets to the table. It is family owned restaurant and the hospitality really has a personal warm... More
