Five star food, four star portions!

Fantastic food, but very small portions and very expensive - still you do get what you pay for here and it's incredible quality - it would have just been nice to have had a little more on the plate as we needed to fill up with a snack before bed-time!

Visited the London carriage works tonight after dining in its neighbour 60 hope many times over the years. The service was fantastic from the start and the food.arrived quickly. The food was not of the same quality. We both ordered the wild boar for our mains. My husband's was rare and very fatty and mine was over cooked and so... More

Went along for our second wedding anniversary and have to say that we couldn't have been happier. I was a little concerned at first as when we arrived (a little earlier than we booked), the waitress advised there would be a short wait for service as three tables had just been seated, but she suggested instead we have a drink... Didn't get off to a good start. Directed to the table most convenient for the staff despite an almost empty restaurant. No "Is this suitable Sir?" Too late for afternoon tea at 5.20. Shown cheap Sunday lunch menu and had to ask for a la carte? Food edible but tasteless and without flare or serious attempt at presentation, must have... More

Paid for afternoon tea for three people and were served just about enough for two - complete rip off, wouldn't have minded but it was dead at that time of day! Had to split sandwiches and scones and ask for cutlery, appalling considering we paid close on £70 for a cup of tea and a glass of prosecco; paid a... More

I booked The London Carriage Works for our wedding anniversary following a recent very pleasant visit to another restaurant from the same stable - The Art School. Both my wife and I were very pleased to say the least, the food was superb, decor very pleasing, staff were exceptionally attentive and our server, Bethany, augmented the overall experience, one which... Ate here with a group of 8 for a business dinner, decor was impressive and service exceptional. Wine list was impressive, but knowledge of sommelier even more so. Suggested a couple of very nice bin ends. Food was excellent, creative + fresh.

Visited Liverpool at short notice this weekend. Everywhere very busy but managed to book into LCW, following really good write ups. Arrived 10 minutes early and said we would like to have a drink before dining. That is where the problems started. We were shown to a table in the bar area and then, it would seem, were forgotten. We... More
