Friendly service

I have visited several times and always made to feel welcome. Whether you want a full meal or just a drink there is something for you on the menu. There are plenty of tables and the food is good too (much cheaper than the Everyman).

On a pleasant dry day this is a perfect place to sit outside with a view of Liverpool's two Cathedrals. Excellent selection of food and drinks including real "Buttys" .... get yer Scouse dictionary out ..... fab place and you are helping to support the cathedral as well. Perfect!

A friend recently recommended me this cafe as a quiet space, close to university, where you could relax and get a coffee after rush hour lunch time. Seeing as there are so many chain cafe's within a 2 min walking distance, I was eager to try this independent cafe with a friend. After ordering coffees I took my prescription tablets... More

Good food, cheerful service, and a free cake when my sandwich was slow in coming. And its attached to the RCcathedral.

Food was so so but we needed to get lunch. You can't tell til you've got it and then it's too late to decide you don't think much of presentation. Price not low either

It was a busy lunchtime when we visited but the queue moved quickly. There was a Good mix of meals, snacks and sandwiches and an interesting serve yourself salad bar. One friend had the Scouse and reported it to be very good - came with a big chunk of wholesome bread. I need gluten free and there's a good choice.... More

Paying the going rate of £3.50 for a cake, I expect something lovely and homemade-like. Unfortunately the ingredients as a starting point are not good enough. I couldn't taste any butter in the cakes. A real shame that a local bakery with good quality ingredients isn't used. The cafe has a nice interior and some outdoor seating Hope street is... More

Overpriced food which was lacking in flavour. The baked salmon was reheated by the girl who served us. This resulted in the salmon becoming dry and overcooked. Apparently the local lecturers like it that way. Bully for them. We were not given the option which apparently we should have been given to not have it reheated. My cottage pie was... More

I contemplated having a spoonful of salad with my tuna jacket potato but for an extra 3 pounds on top of the 4pounds for the jacket potato, I decided not to. My bland tuna jacket potato was also cold! We had to give a hot chocolate back as it was handed to us stone cold, with hesitation the waiter did... More

Nice location and good coffee, was appalled by the lack of direction from the management. Huge queue and people left at the till while their coffee got cold and the manager is chatting with employee. Yes, it may have been work related but priorities need to be made. Bit of music may help the sort of cafeteria feel it has.
