tasty and authentic

Really great value and authentic Japanese restaurant just across the road from the world heritage site of Liverpool's waterfront. Try a bento box for lunch, very tasty. Atmosphere great and you get to walk through a lovely little Zen garden path first. Better than your average sushi bar.

Sushi was really nice, much better than the conveyor belt sushi places. It's a small place so I'd recommend booking first. Good, friendly service and amazing food. And the atmosphere is nice too!

Found Etsu last year and I keep going back! Not many people around this part of town but every time we go it's busy! So always book ahead. You always know a place is doing well when it's out of the main part of town, (if you get me) Place is alittle small but very welcoming once up pathway. Staff... More

Not really eaten at a Japanese restaurant before, so what a great introduction this was. We had pre-booked for Saturday night and had 3 starters and a chicken curry and salmon teriyaki salad. I had the japanese "ice cream" bun selection. Everything was really tasty and at just under £60 including a soft drink each pretty good value too. You... More

Fantastic service from all staff. Never tried Japanese food in a restaurant before but we went for this after reading the excellent reviews on Trip Advisor. Food was completely delicious, the white wine was excellent too. Highly recommend the Kaiso Salad for starter and Katsu-don pork for main course. Spying on other guests' food, it seems that all dishes not... More

I'm not normally that enthusiastic about Japanese restaurants in the UK - too many California rolls, ex-frozen products and too much salmon. However, Etsu is a cut above. We were a party of 6 and all ordered different items, both cooked and raw, which we shared among ourselves. Everything was good, but I can particularly recommend the eel in a... More

Have visited here a couple of times and it is easily the best and most authentic Japanese food I have had in the UK, great service and well priced for the quality of food served. Can't recommend this restaurant enough.

Visited Etsu for the second time today and would definitely recommend. Although I am not an expert on Japanese cuisine, I tried a number of dishes on the menu and enjoyed all of them. The restaurant also has a nice relaxed feel and the staff were very friendly.

This is the first time I had tried Japanese and it was delicious . Food is well presented with lots to choose from and lots of vegetarian options. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially if you have queries about the menu. The restaurant is quite small so has a intimate feel about it. We would definately visit again.

I've eaten at Etsu a couple of times now and every time I go I am more and more impressed. The latest visit was with a party of 6 who hadn't tried Japanese food before. As always the warm welcome and assistance from the knowledgeable staff made choosing a pleasant experience. Everyone's expectations were exceeded. The token "tough guy" who... More
