very dark

it was a table for two and a bit tight on space i.e elbow room, had two mains and a dessert ( not a pie) food was good, staff polite and friendly but room was very dim no windows presumably trying to create atmosphere not badly priced.

A good selection of high quality food. Its small , often packed and quirky. The restaurant is on two levels and the downstairs is not for people who have mobility issues. The stairs are steep and uneven, but negotitable by the fit. You can request a table on ground floor, where there are also toilet facilities. We know people who... More

Pies are pot pies with a choice of flaky or shortcrust lids. Chicken and leek was good. Steak and kidney very tasty.

Eaten there on a couple of occasions, the food is OK but not as good as I was expecting. The tables are a little crammed in however the atmosphere is very good. Staff all work hard (especially as they have to negotiate small spaces and tight stairs). They offer a good value early bird deal which is worth it.

Had chicken, leek, and mushroom pie which was excellent. Top crust flaky (hard to do). Husband had steak and kidney pie which he liked too. Portions are large so you don't need another course. Definitely recommend.

I've always liked any enjoyed previous visits to Browns Pie Shop in the Bailgate and again we had a lovely meal here last week. The pies were the order of the daily for us, huge great dishes of joy, with an amazing high crust on top. Good to see some new additions to the menu also, like the Haggis starter.... More

The welcome was friendly and service excellent Do not be put off by the entrance the restaurant stretches back after going up a couple of steps The atmosphere is traditional if not quiet cosy. If you want sharp cutting edge design this is not the place for you. The food was good. I agree with the other reviews. Be warned... More

Was taken for my first visit to this long established quaint restaurant in the Cathedral & Castle quarter of Lincoln as a treat for fathers day. We arrived (prebooked) promptly to dine at 1.30pm and were immediately shown to our seats in the small crowded dining room. Menus were quickly provided and our choice of drinks ascertained. Our party of... More

The lamb was tender and the crust was delicious. Others staying at the same guest house had rabbit and cheese pie. I highly recommend Browns Pie Shop.
