Pies like I have never seen before and the taste also! Filling was deliciously full of flavour and quality meat. Restaurant was busy but there were plenty of staff on duty and our meal was served with very little wait. Didn't try the deserts as we were full! Only criticism is that there is little ambience in the restaurant, just... More

Amazing Pies every time we visit, never had chance to sample the desserts because i'm always too full. Great selection of veg, and a great menu!

Even though the town was full of graduating students the staff were excellent, the food was very fresh and tasty, even the mashed potatoes with the pie were stunning - and the vegetarian pâté was fabulous. Couldn't wish for more in a lunch. Btw the portions are very generous so be careful if you want to have room for pudding!

Simple but tasty stuff on the menu- check out the whitby pudding and the pies. Got some nice wines too. Service was impressive. Excellent value.

We found it expensive for what we got. My husband had the fish but it came like it had just come out of the see wet and slimey

Dear Ann Marie i am a little confused by the comment you make that you had good food here with us at Browns - thank you for that. However, you go on to comment that the fish came out the SEE wet and slimy - may i just add that the correct spelling is SEA. I continued to read your... More

We visited Browns for lunch, don't be put off by the steep hill walk, it was worth it!. The restaurant was quite busy however a very friendly lady promptly found us a table. My husband ate off the two course lunch menu whilst i decided on having the goats cheese to start and mussels for main. The goats cheese was... More

I had the baked mussels and the steak & kidney pie but I could quite easily have chosen anything off the menu. It all looked delicious. The prices werent the cheapest but the quality was exceptional and the staff were very cheerful. Definitely recommend. Book to ensure a table.

I only had 1 hour for lunch & decided to duck in here for a quick bite (as I was in the area). I mentioned that my time was limited, & the friendly waitress said that I would have ample time to enjoy a main course & maybe even a starter or desert too. The lunch menu I chose from... More
