There are times when you just crave a darned good meat pie and this place does it in spades. Plenty of choices, all home made with good ingredients, stuffed full of tender beef ( and other choices available) delicious gravy and simply excellent short crust pastry ( some pies come with puff pastry... read more

This lives up to what it says on the door, a place to try traditional British freshly cooked pies. There is a daily set menu of good value or one can choose other pies as offered. Along with this are presented traditional puddings with generous helpings of custard, ice cream or cream. Staff are welcoming, and pleasant. Tables slightly packed... More

We had a two course meal here, arriving after their 18:15 cut off for special offers. Our bill came to £45. Expensive. The food was lovely, however, and the staff friendly and efficient. Good service overall. The restaurant progressively got busy and with this the noise levels rose. It was quite noisy by the time we left at 20:00 so... More

We chose this restaurant and pie shop on the basis that it looked so appealing from the outside. Quaint and old world on the outside and much the same inside, but the food is brilliant. The chees souffle I had was so morish I would have had seconds, but I have no gall bladder and I know that would mean... More

Must have a superb chef, we ate here on Friday and came back on Sunday as it was so nice. Had pan fried loin of hare, just exquisite and my husband had belly pork both nights. I had a pie the first night and enjoyed that too. All meals came with a generous and varied selection of winter veg and... More

Enjoyed dinner on a Saturday evening. Very friendly when we rang to book a table. Lovely pies. I had the chicken, leek and mushroom which was delicious. The chocolate tart and treacle sponge were very sweet but everyone cleared their plates! Would definitely recommend to everyone! Lovely quaint building. Friendly warm atmosphere.

I've dined at Brown's many times and you never get any Hong less than an excellent meal here. Lovely location at the top of Steep Hill, non-prentious food with a great selection of pies that are always tasty, and an intimate, warm atmosphere and decor. The format works well for large groups or couples alike. Service is always good. Brown's... More

You would think by the name that you would know what to expect. You would be mistaken, the staff here a re all extremely polite and efficient the service was excellent. This is before you even get to the food, looking at the menu you would think " let's have three course" we found that the quality of the food... More
