Pleasant meal

Booked to eat following a recommendation from a friend. We were placed to eat in the basement which looks like a converted cellar. Although this room intimate and charatcerful, we found it very warm and dominated by the conversation of two men holding a business meeting over dinner. We could hear... read more

I have eaten here before and brought my friends here and they loved it as well. Everybody enjoyed what they had and the house red was lovely. The staff were helpful and the atmosphere of the building is great especially as it supposed to be haunted

Had high hopes for this place as it was recommended by a friend who lives in Lincoln. As we walked in it had a nice historic atmosphere but that was the best it got. The garlic bread we got for starters was literally slices of white bread out of a bag, toasted with no flavour and it was about £4... More

Every dish you eat here is hearty, warming and tasty. I have lost count of the number of times I used to eat here and never had a bad meal yet. The staff are excellent and I am always amazed how they manage to carry so many steaming plates of food up & down the narrow winding stairs

Booked a table midweek and the place was very busy - this shows Browns popularity. If you like excellent home cooked unpretentious food this is for you - there is even a delicious cheese pie for veggies. No room for pudding and wisely skipped starters!

A great concept brilliantly executed. Excellent range of food. Served with a smile! Grandma says the toilets are very nice too.

Stumbled across this restaurant between visiting the Castle and the Cathedral. Really pleased we did because the food and service were excellent. I had the Lincolnshire Cheese Soufflé and it ranks as one of the best I have ever eaten. Seriously recommended as it was melt in your mouth fantastic. Unanimous family vote gave this restaurant an 'outstanding' ... thank... More

As the header says. We both chose the steak and kidney pie with crust and what a good choice. Really tender staek meat and more kidney than you usually get in other places. Lovely tasty gravy and a portion of mashed potato. We thought the vegetable portion was a bit mean but its perfectly adequate once you start on the... More

Visited this restaurant to refuel at lunch time during a trip to the refurbished Lincoln Castle area. A short stroll from the Castle or cathedral brings you to this quirky and delightful restaurant. The choice of food is excellent with a pie of the day tempting my wife. I chose beef and ale pie which came with lovely creamy mash... More

We visit the pie shop for my birthday every December and are never disappointed. Wonderful pies and fantastic puddings make for a very full waddle back down steep hill.
