We visited this friendly and welcoming pub with some friends last Friday. The atmosphere is lovely and cosy and the food was ok. However for the cost, 14.95 for our main course, we did not feel it was, value for money. We chose the blade of beef which was served with horseradish mash and veg, if you could find them ??... More

Called in whilst visiting the Christmas market last Friday , the pub was fairly busy but certainly not hectic , as we were eating later we decided just to have a chicken chiabatta , at a fiver each it should be decent enough , sadly it turned out to be just a couple of cheap slices of wafer thin chicken... a total let down.. We had high expectations, we've never been to Lincoln before and a couple of people recommended the wig and mitre... The food was very poor.. Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings isn't the hardest thing to cook.. Everything looked as if it had been sat there all afternoon.. Dried up and rock hard.. The veg looked as... More

This was the 3rd or 4th time that I've dined here. The building itself is a period piece set only yards from the Cathedral & Castle, right at the top of the appropriately named 'Steep Hill'. The pub itself provides a great supply of beers.wines & spirits. Plenty of room to sit, either with friends or alone. Newspapers to peruse. The food... More

We ate there a couple of times. The food was a bit more special than other pubs around and the beer, particularly the Everards Tiger, was great. Lovely relaxed atmosphere to read the papers, or whatever.
