This is a pub/restaurant that really cares about food. Situated at the top of Steep Hill near the castle and cathedral, it has a welcoming, friendly feel. A wide, creative menu with a good selection of wine and beer. Go there, you won't be disappointed.

Four adults tried a new experience - a wine tasting in this dining pub. We chose five wines each from a detailed and extensive menu and enjoyed an interesting platter of meats to accompany the wines. The service was excellent, resulting in our later ordering main courses and Irish coffees to follow. We were very impressed!

I went to the Wig and Mitre on Sunday for lunch having been there a few months ago where the meal was excellent. Unfortunately I cannot say the same this time. We waited more than 30 minutes for our starter from ordering (2 of us). My wedge of brie was appalling, burnt and when I cut into it there was... More

I was one of a group of 32 people who ate here one evening. We had pre-booked & pre-chosen from a set menu. The service was excellent & the food very good. The room was nicely laid out (upstairs back bar/lounge) and we had our own bar. The menu had been negotiated with the restaurant in advance & was excellent... More

This is the perfect combination of pub and restaurant without some of the awkwardness I sometimes feel in places that can't decide what they want to be. We had a couple of drinks whilst looking at the menu then ordered our food and wine at the bar. I had something from the specials board. Service is relaxed (and I mean... More

Booked a Prosecco breakfast through groupon, such good value. Bacon, sausages, egg, beans, tomato, mushrooms, black pudding. Two slices of toast with home made jam. Pot of tea and glass of Prosecco. £15 for two people. Excellent quality food in a lovely relaxing pub. Very helpful staff.

Always seem to visit The Wig and Mitre on our trips to Lincoln, usually just for a drink. This time had a late lunch, which was very nice - not outstanding but very pleasant. Will be returning, I'm sure on our next visit.

Been here a few times and have not been disappointed. Decent range of food, not the cheapest but not the most expensive and well worth the cost. Give it a try - its good

A regular spot for a good pint of Black Sheep, they do have other hand pulled beers, and a sandwich (the last time was hand pulled pork in a Ciabatta roll). Always cheerful staff and good atmosphere.

Having looked for a nice restaurant to book in Lincoln prior to our stay we booked here. The reviews looked good but a few described the service as poor. This wasn't a huge concern as we felt that if the food was nice we were prepared to wait. We placed our drinks order and waited patiently . The place wasn't... More
