This was our third visit to the dovecote and excellent again.Yes the surroundings are old looking but is this not the history/character of the place?!! The choice is turkey, beef, pork, gammon or normally a delicious homemade pie.You are offered 2 slices or either 2 different slices or even a small piece of pie with a slice of meat.Homemade cauliflower cheese, sweet... We decided to try somewhere different for Fathers Day! The place was dark and gloomy and the curtains were shut on such a lovely sunny day. The staff weren't wearing uniform and one member and a short top on so every time she bent over to clear the tables you could see all her back. The waitresses hair wasn't tied... More

I can honestly say this was probably the worst Sunday Lunch I have ever 'eaten' although I did not eat mine - the yorkshire pudding was inedible as were the frozen bought in 'roast potatoes'. The 'beef' was rock hard and the carrots were boiled within an inch of their life !!! When I informed the waitress of my view... More

Lovely Sunny Sunday sat with a view through the window and went in the garden afterwards. Less than £10 each for carvery. Roast potatoes and other veg were very good. I had organic turkey. Gammon and Pork also looked good. Beef ok. Can have two meats. Gravy and apple sauce tasty. Atmosphere fine.

Open Wednesday to Sunday, I eat here on a Wednesday evening and have to say, the real ale is so good, it's dangerous ! The wine is also reasonably priced with a good selection. I opted for the Roast Beef Carvery, this is served mid week direct from the kitchen. I have to say, it was absolutely excellent and I... More

Lovely Mothering Sunday carvery today.. The surroundings are really nice, olde worlde and chic.. Perhaps strangely enough too many staff and not fully trained, however very pleasant and the food was lovely, beautifully cooked and hot, with huge Yorkshire puddings... As this was a special day, they were very busy, but it was fine... We were all busy talking and... More

First review I have ever left, normally can't be too bothered, but after we ate here I checked it out on trip advisor thinking it surely must have wonderful reviews I was astonished to see so many bad reviews in here. We stopped by here after a weekend away, we passed on the way to seaside and I noticed it... More
