Decided to go off the main road & find somewhere to eat the next time we saw a church spire & so we ended up here. Wow what a welcome, thank you to the staff for that, next came the food. Not the cheapest place but I would rather pay more & get food of this quality. Fantastic & will... read more

Four of us had Sunday lunch here for the first time. We were not disappointed. The food , all three courses, were excellent and the staff pleasant and obliging. There was a good choice on the menu and when it arrived the food was hot and tasty and thankfully traditional not nouveau cuisine. The meal was well worth the price... More

Chosen as the midpoint to meet a friend on a pre-Xmas get together, it was perhaps optimistic to arrive without a reservation and hope to eat. However we were greeted warmly and a table was cleared for us. The menu offered interesting dishes and local produce. We both opted for the roast pheasant, which was succulent and tasty when it... Small village pub with good food, reasonably priced. We have been for meals several times as a couple and with family and friends, sometimes at lunchtime, sometimes in the evening.. The food has always been very good, freshly prepared and served hot. The staff are friendly and helpful and very efficient. Sunday lunch is excellent with a good choice of... More

Attended an office dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed the food. Although a village pub, like many others the only way to survive is to serve good food. This is no exception. Food ordered on the night came in a reasonable time and the quality was very good. I will certainly return

My husband and I had a lovely meal here on Saturday 6th December. We were staying about a mile away and this place was recommended. However, when we arrived, as we hadn't booked, there were no tables available but fortunately a couple left after about ten minutes so we were seated quite quickly. The staff were all friendly and made... More

What a pleasant change - good hot food, well cooked, speedily served with plenty of choice at a reasonable price. As it was sausage week I chose the trio of sausages with mash and gravy. I was not disappointed , the gravy was superb. Pudding was just as good - pancakes with hot apple and ice cream. Really yummy. If... More

We fortunately chose the Generous Briton as a meeting place with American relatives we hadn't seen before as Brant Broughton is the home of our common ancestors and they wished to see the gravestones which are still in the churchyard. Unfortunately they lost their way and arrived well over an hour late for our planned lunch. The landlord couldn't have... More
