Afternoon tea

Bought afternoon tea for two via a groupon coupon plus proschecco. It was served slightly differently to previous afternoon teas I have had and at first there seemed to be small amounts. However, after dainty sandwiches and cakes and scones, jam and cream was comfortably full - although perhaps... read more

We booked this restaurant on the basis of good reviews we'd read. How wrong we were. Possibly the worst restaurant experience I have ever endured. The teenage staff seem to have been dragged off the street with no training - not their fault I know. No knowledge of the menu, didn't bother to light the candle on our table, and... More

Dear Madam I find it very strange that you have put a review on trip advisor 9 months after you visited us. We have never and I repeat never kept anyone waiting 2 hours between courses and our front of house and kitchen staff are all trained to a high standard as you can see from our other reviews. Felicity... More

I travel all over the country with my job and one of my few pleasures in life is eating great food and therefore look up the best places to eat in the area I'm visiting and after extensive research - this place kept popping up on the radar !! It is a"Hidden Gem!!!!" Whenever I know I'm in the area... More

Had bought a tasting menu from a discount site as it seemed a good idea. On arrival only 4 people eating, nice dining area seemed ok. Sat down and were told no pate available as run out!!!. Soup was celeriac and mustard. Warm no real taste. Then substitute for pate was cheese souffle. It was like a dumpling, it should... More

We had booked an afternoon tea and it was surprisingly filling, tiny assorted sandwiches, little cakes and scones with jam & cream. The waitress was brilliant.

Maceys always has a warm welcome for its visitors. I live nearby so I often pop in for a coffee and buttermilk scone - yummy! This lovely little restaurant deserves to be so much busier but as you need to be in the know you are usually guaranteed a free table when you arrive from this hidden gem. Although, now... More

On arrival our table wasn't ready, however we were shown to a nice waiting area and given complementary bucks fizz. Very good gluten free arrangements were made, however front of house were having to rush, and we were not shown what the set menu was for the evening, nor were we given a drinks list, and had to chase it... A very pleasant taster menu, 5 course. A varied and very tasty meal. The restaurant is small, with only about 5-6 tables, so service is excellent, no rush between courses, and the food came out freshly prepared. Throughly enjoyed our meal. Oh... And the fresh made lemonade!!
