Miserable staff but value on set menu

11 of us went for a friends 30th Birthday recently, all of us opting for the Tuesday night set 3 course menu which was value for money and the food was good. Although the service was atrocious. Not once was there a smile, no quality check during the meal, no offer for more drinks and when the bill... read more

I have been to the Bootroom many times and absolutely love the food, however my only slight criticm is that it comes too quickly! Our starter came five minutes after ordering, we hadn't even had time to eat our bread, and the main meal came another five minutes after finishing our starter. We always feel a bit rushed and you... Just enjoyed an excellent meal for two - everything was just right. We both had beef medallions which were cooked to perfection with a tasty mushroom sauce. For desert I had a fondant and my wife had soufflé. Both were absolutely spot on.

This restaurant seems to have had some problems over Christmas but things look like they are getting better again. The manager was a busy guy making sure the guests were looked after throughout the evening. Food was mostly OK but could of been so much better with just a little more effort. The Scallop starters were excellent, the Chili Prawn... More

We had to have the Christmas menu because of the time of year: the food was very mediocre and presented as if it were in a canteen. We both had slow cooked beef which was dry and stodgy and was served with carrots and brussel sprouts which did a great impersonation of a school dinner. Very so so considering the... More

Went for our office party here I had the traditional option with the Turkey and all the trimmings. The turkey was like the Bernard Mathews joint it had the same processed texture and along with the rest of the meal was very bland £30+ pp for something that tasted like a microwave ready meal was very poor. This was my... More

This if the fifth year running that I have taken 45 plus people to The Boot Room for our Christmas celebration. The food was the best yet and the service was excellent as always. Excellent value for Christmas lunch and the team at The Boot Room always cater to our needs. Thanks

Was a bit disappointed really, obviously shop bought chilli sauce with the main my friends starter could have come from Iceland. The sea bass was beautiful I have to say but they automatically added a service charge and only told us we didn't need to pay this when challenged.

A friend had recommended the Boot room to me, sadly what a disappointment! We had a table for 6 on the 4th December, one of the group had to cancel at the last moment due to being ill and we highlighted this to the waitress. On appearances the place looks pretty and nice. When we turned up it was quite... More
