Old style, excellent menu, good value BUT no cards...and its not obvious till you go to pay!

This is a real gem...and not obvious from the outside as they restaurant is an L shape and room is tight. However it has a very extensive sandwich menu with unusual but exciting combinations (Pork, crackling and black pudding for example) on several types of breads...and service is good and... read more

Good at any time of day, but great for a proper old fashioned afternoon tea. Love the old world traditional feel of the place.

First time visitor. Amazed at how busy this little place is. Good food. Service good too. Will definitely visit again. I can see why people at queuing to get a table. Tables are crammed in though. Doesn't take cards.

I went Mrs Bridges today to have my English Cream tea. We sat in this small table with the radiator in one side, so I was getting very warm and I couldn't sit properly. The waiter was not too bad but it seems he wanted to go home soon. The food was really tasty, the scone and clutter cream just... More

Had lunch here yesterday with my friend. We both had a sandwich with steamed salmon feta cheese and lettuce. I had mine and gluten free bread and it was simply delicious. I would recommend picking this sandwich up rather than using the knife and fork. We had a massive pot of tea between us. Although this is very small cafe,... More

We just love this little place. A great traditional Café- small and with Victorian furniture. The Chef is brilliant and very imaginative, and uses great local produce. Stilton and roast beef sandwiches is a favourite- soups are excellent with great bread, and daily menus too. Excellent for cakes and 'cream tea' etc. The enclosed patio is very nice in Summer,... Food is fantastic, main menu and specials with some interesting blend of ingredients. Service is not fussy but attentive. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Second time here, second time tried to get a pork pie platter. this time we went 2 hours earlier but alas no pork pies left - I don't know if we are just unlucky but they don't seem to have enough pork pies in the home of the pork pie. Nice enough to eat other foods, just don't expect a... More

Hi Ian, Happy New Year and thanks for taking the time to write a review in this forum. We are saddened to learn that that you were disappointed with your visit to our tearooms and would like the chance to bring up a rather major baffling point. We don't sell pork pie, whether it be on a "pork pie platter"... More

We went here, based on decent reviews, as we fancied afternoon tea after going to the theatre. Maybe it was an off day or 3.30pm is a bad time for tea but the service was hopeless. Friendly but clueless. It's a Tea Shop but the waitress couldn't say what sort of tea they had. They were out of sausage rolls... More
