Atmosphere and food lovely.

I visited with friends in March, having not been put off by the zero food hygiene rating. I liked this Indian as it served more traditional kind of food rather than the usual Chicken Tikka Masala. I cannot remember the names of what I had, but I had some kind of soup as a starter and a chicken... read more

Stumbled onto Kayal after a full day out and after quickly checking the reviews, we decided it was definitely worth a try. The smell on entering was amazing and we were SO lucky to have landed a table - luckily we were early enough that it wasn't packed yet. Our waiter was so helpful - we had decided on mains... More

I have been dozens of times with my girlfriend, friends, family and business and the food has always been excellent. They regularly have specials on the board and offer plenty of tasty fish dishes, unlike a lot of Indian restaurants. the fish cooked in the banana leaf is fantastic!

We visited Khyal after reading reviews on trip advisor and the Leicester Mercury. We were totally amazed. The food was beyond our expectation. We were served by Eva who is a real assett to this establishment. On her recommendation we ordered for starters king prawns and a chicken dish which I can't recall the name off, and mains we ordered... More

This visit was my first to Kayal in Leicester, and I thought it was every bit as good as Kayal in Nottingham. The service was excellent, and the staff were so friendly and also obliging - they did really well to fit us in at a moments notice on a Saturday evening. The food was excellent. Plenty of flavour and... More

Been here a few times mainly on special occasions or when visitors with me.Its somewhere that is completely different to the normal 'curry house'. Menu, staff and location all contribute to this. Was at De Montfort Hall a couple of days ago at a Paul Carrick concert(brill)he asked the audience where he should go for a curry and someone shouted Kayal... More

I visited Kayal (not for the first time) to show my brother, who was visiting from Sussex, the best of Leicester. He was blown away by the fabulous food and friendly staff, particularly Sneha - thank you!

Very nice food I thought, the squid starter in particular. Different from the run of the mill Indian with a focus on seafood as well. Needs clearer spice ratings and advice, one of my party had something described as spicy which was very mild while I had something with no spice comment and found it hot. Service was sluggish. A...
