Had a lovely meal at The Grey Walls, it was ideally situated facing our hotel. Has a nice atmosphere, lovely open fire. Had a good selection of beers and food. The food was lovely would definitely come back here when visiting The Lake District.

We only had a drink so cannot comment on the food. From the menu it looked like good solid pub food. There wasn't a great deal of beer to choose from, but this was midweek January, so no criticisms there - though I do wonder why most people in Windermere seem to drink that awful pop Peroni - the criticism... Friendly and helpful staff. Sandwiches were tasty and children's meals were good portions and excellent value for money. Only downside is one of the seats was soaking wet which we hadn't realised until sat down! Oops.

Ate here my first night in the Lakes. Really enjoyed the fish and chips - very large fish, chips were the best I have had in ages and the home made tartar sauce was delicious. Friendly atmosphere and one of the few eateries in the Windermere that's dog friendly.

I used to eat here 20 years ago so on a recent holiday to The Lakes made a point of stopping in for lunch. The place had changed very little to how i remember it, and that's a good thing. The food too had stayed as good as ever, with huge portions of freshly cooked food handed out for very... More

Having not been for a while we arrived expecting similar to last time, what we found was that the bar appears to be the local youth hangout these days. Not exactly what you want when going for a quiet meal

Dear Nev666, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your opinion, it is much appreciated. I am not sure how to gauge this review as I noticed you have quite a wide range of reviews for the immediate local area and surrounding Cumbria area however despite stating that you are a returning customer, have previously failed to... Nice and friendly pub. Went in twice for a drink on our short break. One batman we remember , we saw him both nights, recommended the ale for my husband which he loved. Apparently the locals love it! The second time we came in the sand barman was on his own and working his socks off. He was still attentive... More

Firstly the staff are very friendly and pleasant and can't do enough for you. We stayed for 3 nights in room 17. This is where it goes a little pear shaped. Very cold and damp. But when asked the heating was put on for us. Needs a lot of refurbishment, with rotting skirting boards replaced new wallpaper and paint it... More
