Lovely lunch

We were visiting Penrith for the day and were getting hungry! Like to support independent cafes and the menu sounded good. I had a roasted veg panini and my boyfriend had the club sandwich. We called in a few weeks back, the children's portions were good and the menu seemed fantastic. I ordered a falafel salad which was really tasty and everyone else seemed to enjoy the food. Until I finished my salad and noticed a great big black hair on the plate, I immediately took it to the girl at the bar and... More

We called in and asked about the gluten free options. The service was poor and said they could not guarantee any cross contamination as they have a small kitchen. There seemed to be a stress whenwe enquired and felt uncomfortable. We chose to have a cuppa but couldn't wait to get out of the cafe. The only positive aspect was... More

We haven't replied to reviews before, but we do feel the need this time. The customer asked about gluten free items on the menu and we gave her a number of gf options including falafels, various jacket potatoes, and club sandwich with gluten free bread. The waitress who was called over to advise is herself gluten-intolerant so she was able... More

It looks small from the outside but there's lots of room inside and outside seating too. There was plenty to chose from, with a trio of one usually disappointed veggie, one picky pescetarian and one light eater. The young staff were so lovely: friendly open faces and quietly helpful. For food that is clearly freshly prepared, it came quickly. Beautifully... More

It really is a very narrow building and it's very popular so it's not always easy to find a seat. Always outstandingly friendly and excellent food. The coffee is served unusually strong, which is very much to my taste but I'm sure they'd give some hot water if you asked. They leave their most enticing cakes by the till so... More

We visited the cafe on our day out. There was a great choice of food options and the portions were very hearty. The staff were very friendly. The only problem was that we were seated upstairs and the staff didn't often venture upstairs as it was busy downstairs. We waited almost 20 minutes to be served, and once our main... More

Narrow by name but not tiny plenty of seating, even a couple of tables outside for the hardy sort on a blowy day like today. Just stopped in for coffee and cake which was delicious. They all looked good but we plumped for lemon drizzle cake, the server said it was good and she was right.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at The Narrowbar Cafe. One of us had the traditional ploughman's plate and the other a Mexican-inspired sweet potato quesadilla dish. Both were delicious. The service was friendly and helpful, the setting relaxed, the prices very reasonable. We would happily come back any time.

Recently visited this little cafe and have to say their Chocolate Fudge Cake was amazing! I asked to have it warmed up and the ladies serving obliged straight away, no questions asked! Great service and a lovely little cafe! Would I recommend? YES! :) Thank you!

As my wife is from the area we decided to visit her Mum who lives in Penrith. We popped into this café as I was feeling peckish and ordered what was described on the menu as a monster breakfast when this arrived it must of been the child's version of what I would class as a standard sized breakfast 1...
