Called here for lunch and both were disappointed at the scant portions. As for the price - very much overpriced for what we got. Also the quiet atmosphere in the conservatory made casual conversation rather stilted. In future we will avoid the detour from A66 and carry on into Penrith where there was a good selection of eateries.

Excellent service, food was beautiful after I had eaten i wad watching the very busy chefs at work, I was very disappointed with the levels of hygiene as food was being dished out, nearly everything was dished out using their hands, no utensils, in between service a chef would stop to itch his head or nose then proceed to dish... Great chefs who produce outstanding food and would definitely recommend. Excellent value for top quality meals. Professional service with nothing too much trouble. An absolute gem. I will definitely go back with more of the family.

Decided to have lunch here before shopping on a Saturday.Had the lunch special a bowl of homemade soup served with freshly made bread. This was followed by Ham egg and homemade chips a simple meal that used local eggs and ham sourced from a local farm. All this for just £6 leaving me room for what can be described as the... More

We have done many detours over the past few years to enjoy the superb lunches and dinners (Friday and Saturday evening) at this very special place. We regularly travel south from Scotland and a stop off here is the highlight of our journey. The menu is varied and tempting -tremendous value for money with much local produce, cooked and presented... More

You might think you've arrived at the wrong place when you pull up and even after you have wandered through the small garden centre but if you climb the steps up to the café in the back you won't be disappointed. Greeted by friendly staff, the place has a far warmer feel than most garden centre eateries. The menu had... More

A cafe by day time and then on Friday and Saturday evenings a restaurant. The food uses local ingredients and is consistently good. The evening menus are more adventurous - try one of the 5 course tasting menus if available. If you are vegetarian or have any special dietary requirements contact them in advance and a special meal will be... More

It's tucked away at the back of Hazel Dene Garden Centre in Culgaith. The staff were friendly and helpful. The menu is, unfortunately very poor for veggies, I had a very tasty cheese toasty with delicious home made chips and salad. The Only reason I wouldn't return is how limited the menu is for veggies. I'm Sure I'd you're meat... More
