Family party of five, we chose scampi, lasagne, a steak and ale pies and flat iron steak. All well prepared and generous portions. Nothing pretentious about the surroundings downstairs but with good food and service, what more do you need?

The host was very helpful and couldnt do enought for us. The dinning room is upstairs with a beautful view of the lake district. Food was hot and freshly made and the place was popular with the locals.

Ate here over the Bank Holiday weekend again. This is now the third time in the last 6 months and, as with the previous two occasions, it didn't disappoint. The menu isn't "fine dining" but it is (very) well cooked, the staff are friendly and attentive without being overbearing and the restaurant has great views on a summer evening. It... More

A busy, buzzing pub downstairs (local act on). We sat upstairs on a balcony outside the 68 seater restaurant admiring the excellent view before being welcomed to our table, where our food had been placed. We had only ordered sliders (mini burgers of various composition) and a blue cheese burger, but both dishes were home made, really well presented (on... More

Excellent food, really friendly staff. We had a party for my Father's 80th birthday. They could not have been more helpful. Really good choice of meals pleased everyone from 10yr niece to Dad! Good beer and very pleasing wine list. Paul, the manager / owner is very hospitable. We ate most of the meals on the menu and would recommend... More

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime with family & friends, the pub is located just off the A66 on the outskirts of Penrith. Nicely renovated pub offering 'all things to all men' with a locals bar at the front of the pub offering pub games & bar meals a couple of local 'real ales' then a well designed 'timber beamed' first... We found this pub by chance having spotted a farm shop and turning down this entry to effect a three point turn! We saw the pub and decided to have lunch while we were at it, it turned out to be a really good choice. We entered into the bar area and to honest we thought this was the only... More
