Seven of us went for dinner to celebrate a birthday. We have been many times before and have always had very high quality meals. This time was even better . Particularly good was the halibut with toasted cucumber, coconut and lemongrass sauce also, the slow cooked English rose veal with wild garlic. Puddings have always been adventurous-eg Rhubarb and apple pie... More

Where do I start, far too expensive for the little fancy tasteless food on your plate, The canopes was a soup seriously it was like carnation milk yak, The starter was pretty much the same as the main it was ok but far too much fancy decoration and not enough food , little bits in your plate that you couldn't... This is probably the hardest review that I have written. There was nothing wrong with the food that we ate and the service was good but we left disappointed. The menu was imaginative and the skill level was high but some of the elements of the food just didn't work for me. Canapes consisted of cured salmon on a spoon,... More

This was our second visit to the restaurant at Temple Sowerby House Hotel and it was every bit as wonderful as our first visit. This restaurant offers the fine dining experience and an experience it was. The canapés were out of this world, and consisted of a chicken korma soup (served in a shot glass), a scampi and chip with... More

Having stopped to ask polity if the restaurant was open for sandwiches or a light lunch the lady of the establishment informed us in an abrupt manner that they were expecting a large function and that the restaurant was closed. We asked if there was anywhere else close by and we told that there was a "pub across the road... More

We spent a lovely evening here on our way to Scotland. This is a great 1/2 point to break your journey. The house is a lovely old Georgian mansion with earlier bits on the back. The food is amazing, beautifully cooked and prepared. The chef really knows his stuff. The service was superb, the young girl that served us breakfast... More

Set in a Georgian fine house this hotel and restaurant is well worth a visit. We have only ever dined there but you can tell the quality of the hotel when you walk into the premises, look around you and you can feel the quality. The local chef regularly updates his menu, he uses locally sourced and seasonal ingredients and... More

We are lucky to say this is a regular visit for a special night out. The food is exceptional and the Chef is a genius with his creativity and delicious food....we have eaten here regularly and have never had a less than exceptional meal. It starts with the imaginative canapes and then each course if a cleverly presented food sensation....... More

Fantastic restaurant. Immaculate service from start to finish, amazing food/art and very reasonably priced for what you get. If you have a choice - go!
