Not "fast food", but proper food - FAST!

Just north of Penrith on the A6, and about a mile east from J41 on the M6. It's an old inn, which used to be kept busy providing beer 'n burger lunches for coach parties, but has in recent years reinvented itself as a nice eatery with a conference centre. We've stopped there for lunch... read more

Twenty of us attended a private function in the upstairs Coniston suite. The room had been very well laid out with ample space and seating. The staff were very attentive and the service outstanding. Catering for 20 cannot be easy but the food was delicious, well presented and very efficiently served so we all ate at the same time. The... More

I have been here for a number of training events and business meetings. It is an excellent venue. Good location, ample parking and facilities. The catering is very good. Tea and coffees and meals all served on time. Good food and lots of fresh fruit, and no left over food!! The staff are helpful and friendly. I have been to... More

We discovered this pub after looking on-line and reading the reviews. The only way to describe it is the best pub meal of our holiday. Hubby ordered the Roast Rump of Lamb and it was delicious. He loved the twist with croquettes. I had fish and chips which was great. Sweets were impressive too. I would also like to say... More

After travelling from Tyneside via Hartshead Pass, we intended to lunch at Brief Encounter just outside of Penrith, only to find it closed...Once again.. So we set off to Lazonby thinking the must be somewhere for a pub lunch on the way....There wasn't. So back along the A6 towards Penrith where we found this wonderful restaurant. Staff were lovely, food... More

Took my Wife and my mother here for lunch as we were in the area. Never been before but passed many times on the A6. Staff were friendly and well versed in what was on the menu. The food was delicious, starters, main, and desserts!! We will definitely be coming back as we were all overwhelmed by the food. It... More

Lovely family meal, we were delighted to be told they were serving food during the afternoon. The food was delicious, especially the starters which were something special, the main courses were beautifully presented with sauces/ relishes coming in a small jar. It was made a very nice visit due to the very friendly and helpful staff. We will be sure... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on Tripadvisor. We do source as much of our produce as we can from local suppliers and nearly everything on our menu is homemade including our ice creams. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon. More

Very modern looking gastropub but fabulous carvery for sunday lunch (even though we were booked in for a late lunch at 3:30). Our son had fish and chips which looked delicious. The staff were very polite and attentive. Recommended.

Another lovely meal. Twice baked cheese souffle, smoked salmon and crayfish risotto which they kindly did as a main instead of a starter, followed by a selection of ice cream in a brandy snap basket. The salted caramel ice cre am was to die for. Staff very attentive. Will be back.
