Limited pub menu with specials board, good beer, good friendly service and reasonably priced. I had the gammon my partner ordered fish and chips, we both enjoyed our meals. The pub is dog friendly and has a light bite menu. We will visit here again when in the area.

I wish I'd had read the reviews before going to this pub for my husbands birthday dinner. In my view people who post reviews are either displeased or delighted with the service they have received so hence my review to be part of this community. I would avoid at your expensive and like one of the reviews stated I wish... More

Nine of us booked in for a meal and we were very pleased with the meal. Good traditional menu at reasonable prices. Nicely served. Pleasant staff.

Popped In for a drink and it's friendly enough but was empty during the day. After a long walk we decided to eat tea there. I wish I had carried on back to our cottage as the food was basic, dry chips, cheap ketchup and pudding made from shortcut pastry. The starters consisted of garlic bread £4 and I could... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, even though you were disappointed with your meal. We do serve basic, good quality pub food, which is what most people ask us for - but we'll take your comments on board. More

Been here each night of our holiday... Friendly and welcoming! We like to have a drink before we go back to our cottage. You are welcomed into a chat or left to be on your own!

This pub was recommended by a colleague and as there was little choice in Portinscale, we decided to give it a try. The staff were welcoming and friendly and it was reasonably busy. Specials board was ok with about 5 or 6 choices, but mainly pies. However, the actual menu was sadly lacking. There were about 5 or 6 main... More

Thank you for the review. We're sorry that you were disappointed - we have reviewed the menu and there are plenty of vegetarian options now. By the way, the music you heard is from a selection called 'Pub Jukebox'. Lucinda on behalf of Ben and Sharon More

Starters were good. Main courses were not so good. Gammon steaks and fish were good apart from vegetables were a bit overlooked. Special lasagne and pasta bake were awful although the salads were fresh and tasty. Service and staff were attentive and friendly.

The Farmer's Arms is always our first port of call upon arriving in Portinscale. We do tend to get a little anxious if we get caught in traffic that we'll be unable to get a table, or that the kitchen will have closed, but we've been lucky so far not to miss out. There's a decent range of beers on... More

We have just enjoyed a week's stay in Portinscale and had a very warm welcome in the Farmers. The staff are friendly and the beer kept well. Food excellent, plenty of choice on the menu and specials board, although food is not served all day every day but that is reserved for the busier pubs in Keswick itself which is... More
