Starters were good. Main courses were not so good. Gammon steaks and fish were good apart from vegetables were a bit overlooked. Special lasagne and pasta bake were awful although the salads were fresh and tasty. Service and staff were attentive and friendly.

The Farmer's Arms is always our first port of call upon arriving in Portinscale. We do tend to get a little anxious if we get caught in traffic that we'll be unable to get a table, or that the kitchen will have closed, but we've been lucky so far not to miss out. There's a decent range of beers on... More

We have just enjoyed a week's stay in Portinscale and had a very warm welcome in the Farmers. The staff are friendly and the beer kept well. Food excellent, plenty of choice on the menu and specials board, although food is not served all day every day but that is reserved for the busier pubs in Keswick itself which is... More

We were staying in Portinscale for the first time and the house was literally just around the corner from the Farmer's Arms. We ate there 3 times in the week we were up and each time the food was good quality. The chicken and mushroom pie was a particular favourite. Good menu ate good prices. Good range of local brews... This is our second visit to The Farmers Arms, and we were not disappointed. We both had the chicken bacon and mushroom pies and they were delicious, not the mush you normally get, these had lovely pieces of chicken and bacon with lovely chips. The service was good and the ambience convivial. We just love the place.

Nothing flash but reasonable quality pub grub. We had lamb shank which was beautiful and a steak which was cooked exactly how we asked for it. Kids meals were reasonable too. Booking highly recommended and appreciated being asked if we minded the live music starting before we had finished eating

The Farmers Arms is a nice, friendly pub and is clearly very popular with locals and holidaymakers. Was just so disappointed with my meal - chicken in a white wine and tarragon sauce, with new potatoes and vegetables. It's difficult to find anything positive to say about it - the chicken was bland and rubbery, the sauce tasted disgusting and... More
