We ate twice at the Farmer's Arms and found it to have good pub food, friendly service and reasonable prices. The fish and chips was excellent, the Cumberland sausage good and the Chicken and Bacon pie also good. We bought a bottle of red wine for £13.95 and the two of us ate a full meal plus the wine for... Nice enough little pub but food is a bit hit and miss. My partner's steak pudding was OK but my vegetable chilli was disappointing and not really a chilli by any stretch of the imagination: no spice, tortilla chips, jalapenos, cheese, sour cream etc. Just peppers, carrots, kidney beans & tinned tomato on rice. It might have made a reasonable... More

Stayed round the corner and popped in late afternoon for a pint, barman was really helpful pub was nice and relaxed. Booked in for 7pm that evening, nice and busy great atmosphere would have stayed longer but there was a lady with 2 what she described as "defensive" dogs barking constantly. At one point she even took her dog up... More

Not good visit generally. Beer was ok but the food was bland and tasteless. Gammon was thin and fatty, lamb shank greasy and unsatisfying, frozen chips also. When the waitress asked if the meal was ok my wife being a nice person said yes it was. I however am not as nice as my wife and I said I didn't... More

Called in for an evening meal as we were staying at the nearby Derwent Water Hotel. Very friendly bar staff and one of the best pints of bitter ( Jennings ) I`ve ever had. Four main courses for under £ 36 with big portions and very tasty food - great place and we will will be going back :-))

Friendly welcome, good pub grub & unexpected quiz night made for a great night. Quite busy with tourists & locals made for a buzzy atmosphere.

This pub advertises a quiz on sunday evenings. You can imagine our disappointment when we booked a table for ourselves and visiting friends and even checked with the staff that the quiz was running on the evening of Easter sunday and consequently it was a no show with no explanation. The pub was full of other eager quiz participants who... More

Undercooked fish and chips with peas like bullets, very bland lamb shank with watery gravy and tasteless boiled veg. Beer ok, fairly basic inside. Wouldn't go back
