Nice food and big portions

If wanting to dine at the weekend, make a reservation or you wont get a table, Lots of menu options and standard of food for both our meals was impressive. Not too expensive and value for money. Lively bustling atmosphere.

My wife said the lamb was the best she had ever had. I, on recommendation from my B&B landlady, had a half portion of the Cow Pie. The portion was large to say the least. If I had ordered the full portion I would still be eating it. The meat was cooked to perfection. Apparently it is cooked for 10... More

We ate here in March and it was not good. It was obvious from the start that people were being herded in and out as quickly as possible in order to reuse the tables. My husband had the full cow pie so i was surprised to see it was just a huge slice. We were both expecting something that looked... More

I have never had a bad meal in this place, went for the chicken stuffed with venison very tasty and filling, we ate in the restaurant part, staff although busy made sure we had drinks etc and food arrived in good time. Hope to be back soon!

Had dinner there one night with a group of friends. Excellent service, good portions of well cooked food and great choices to choose from on the menu.

Following a recommendation for wheat-free meals we had dinner at The George. The staff were knowledgeable about food allergies and the menu choice extensive including some dishes which can be altered to make wheat-free, The chef cooks wheat-free fish and chips in a separate fryer which means safe from cross-contamination. This was a huge treat and was very tasty too.... More

Not a lot wrong in the George to be honest the food is nive and very hearty portions if you like your grub, the beer is very nice and the staff are very friendly, also they allow dogs in which is always a plus point to me even though I no longer have one, I really don't mind other peoples.

My husband came here in October 2014 for an evening meal after his stag do weekend - had a fantastic time. We came back to Keswick for May bank holiday weekend (22nd, 23rd and 24th) with our brother and sister in law and couldn't wait to enjoy an evening here, especially after hearing all the fab comments my husband and...
