great real ale

Good real ale selection and lovely roaring open fire. We were served very quickly but maybe that was due to the time of year, however the bar staff were very friendly. Unlike most pubs in keswick this still had its original charater and was unspolit with modernisation.

Excellent pub/hotel in Keswick town centre. Ancient coaching Inn serving real ales and good food in convivial surroundings. Knowledgeable staff and free wifi available. Want to push the boat out further - enjoy a good meal in the hotel restaurant. Long been a stalwart of the pubs in Keswick and long may it continue to be so.

Portions are great, as is the food itself! I owe my other half a fiver, I didn't think he could finish a whole large pie to himself, along with everything else on his plate.. But he did. It was impressive. I'll be coming back when we come back to Keswick!!

We loved this pub, the menu was great and the portions very good. Pity we didn't discover it until just before the end of our week away, otherwise we would have eaten there more than once.

Went for a breakfast here and it was brilliant, had everything on the plate plus a lovely pot of tea and very reasonably priced. The food menu all appeared very reasonable and good cumbrian food. The pub is very old warm and inviting, upstairs are guest rooms, which I would imagine to be equally as appealing as the bar area.We would go again.

Went with a small group, and had wisely made a reservation. We enjoyed our evening meal in the restaurant, and we'll definitely visit again. The staff were wonderful. The George has a fairly traditional bar area, and an adjacent dining room in the centre of town: No wonder it always seems busy.

This is a lovely old pub, worth a visit even just for a drink in front of the roaring fire. However the restaurant is well worth a visit as well.We are vegeterian and there is a good selection on the menu. Enormous portions and puddings to die for. worth a visit

We visited the George on one of our regular walking weekends in the lakes. Its really nice pub with good selection of ales. Although the service was good we thought the restaurant was a bit old fashioned and the food was very mediocre. The mussels we shared as a starter were pretty tasteless and the sauce had too much cream.... More
