This is a busy and popular hotel bar and on advice we booked a table for the dinning room. Just as well as the bar area was packed with many people turning away dissapointed. Wonderful service and great menu for a relaxed after 'fells' evening meal. The 'pie' looked magnificent and my mussels although small were very tasty. Surroundings were very 'olde' world and the bars were spot on with many local beers and real ale !! Very good all round and definitely worth a visit

We booked and are here on Saturday night, it was very busy which to be honest did effect the service. Food is good, as most reviews suggest, although I think there are other places I would try next time. It's central and the portions are good for mains, poor for starters.

Recommended as worthy of a visit by our landlord, we headed here hungry from the hills. My husband chose the vegetarian enchiladas, and I had the beef pot roast. The enchiladas were tasty and very cheesy, while the beef just fell apart on the plate. Very tasty and just what was needed after a long day. A decent pub with... More

Its a pub with a separate dining section. Best to book a table. We thought the greeting and overall service was excellent. Menu , including Cow Pie, is impressive. All four of us considered the food presentation, quality and quantity to be above average , and very good value.Theres lots of competition in Keswick, but The George is high on our... We are never disappointed with meals at the George and the two latest visits were no exception! We had the infamous cow pie, pot roast, Englishman’s delight and fish and chips. All of the meals were delicious, well cooked using good quality ingredients - served by the very friendly and attentive staff. We especially like single out the tall bearded... More

Managed to get squashed into a corner at easter weekend. Food was alright have had better, beer was good though, not sure about all the dogs, every other person seems to bring one into the pub with them. Nice and central pub.
