We always make a point of coming to the George for dinner when in Keswick, the food is varied (I've never seen white bait starter) and universally good quality - the pies are great (half pie recommended unless you've not eaten for 2 days!) and the ale is always perfectly served. I do prefer the bar area to the restuarant... More

Lovely traditional pub with separate restaurant area although you could dine in the pub side too. Very nice staff and very good service. Food delish, hot and tasty. Didn't have to wait long either even thought the place was rammed. Hubby had half a cow pie that was full of beef, Bro-in-law had the beef which melted in his mouth... More

We have been eating at the George for quite a few years now. We often go as a party of 6 or 8 for birthdays etc , this is quite a feat in itself as the restaurant only caters for about 30; although bar meals are served in 2 other areas of the main bar. The meals have always been... More

The Restaurant was full when we visited at around 12.30 so we opted for Sunday lunch @£8.95 in the bar area, it was a nice enough Sunday lunch but maybe a little overpriced for a Bar meal. Gravy was lovely but the Yorkshire pudding was a struggle to cut. maybe a little school meal looking, £5.95 would be a more... More

Recommended to us by our landlady at the Pitcairn B&B - good beers and very good pub-grub ( try a full "Cow Pie" if you dare!)Very pleasant ambience, friendly service, and genuinely historic features in the building.

We stopped in at The George for lunch and a pint during a recent trip to Keswick after we'd been walking. The hot baguettes were so good we went back for our evening meal! I had the game casserole and my wife had the half cow pie. Both were very tasty and to say the portions were generous would be... More

This old rustic local pub serves simple and local food, they have a couple of roaring fires and even let dogs into the bar . The menu is far from adventurous but does simple honest fare - home cooked with good ingredients. People come here for the famous cow pie but let me warn you - the orations are GIGANTIC.... More

One of our favourite town centre pubs. Good service and a warm traditional feel. Beers are kept well and Dog friendly, added bonus.

After building up a raging appetite walking in the hills, we liked the look of this place and were lucky enough to find a table free in the bar - where you can eat as well as in the restaurant. This is a comfortable, warm, welcoming traditional pub - all dark beams, comfy seats and clearly dog-friendly, since there were... More
