Hearty meal @ excellent value

The Dog and Gun epitomizes what one expects from a modern British pub - excellent grub at reasonable prices. We had their famous beef goulash and a pint. The crusty bread was very nice as well. The only reason that I give it a 4 is that a nice "fish & chips" meal was not offered. The fish that... read more

really disappointed with this visit 01/06/15 1600hrs (ish) Service usual great standard and prompt but I ordered steak sandwich. Looked great on the plate with the salad and smelt good but on opening the baguette to put mustard on, I counted 8 very small pieces of steak. I know it sounds picky but I've eaten here hundreds of times without... More

We visited this pub lots of times throughout our stay at keswick. Nice, staff & relaxed atmosphere, with friendly people to chat with. Only improvements needed I would say is more seating & windows that open or air con as it gets so hot in there.

Always serves an excellent range of local real ale and kept in great condition. Bustling, cosy pub where you're likely to strike up a conversation with a friendly pooch.

My husband and I along with our families have been frequent visitors to the Dog & Gun in Keswick over the years. It was always a lovely traditional pub. Warm and cosy with a lovely atmosphere a reasonably priced pint and good food! Sorry to say this is now not the case. After a refurbishment this has gone in our opinion.... More

We were in keswick for a week's holiday & tried every day at varying times to get a table here but it was always full - which is a good thing i guess but they dont have many tables to eat at as its a very small pub, don't take bookings & always have people sat at tables drinking. We... More

After a strenuous day on the Fells the one thing that keeps me going is knowing I will be sampling The Dog & Guns famous Hungarian Goulash (get the large portion as you'll just wanting more if you get the small). It's been done out recently which has taken a little bit of it's rustic charachter away but it's still... More

We are fairly frequent visitors to Keswick and were a little perturbed about the changes that have been made to this Keswick institution recently. We need not have worried since the new owners have done a great job of the revamp and dare I say that this pub was perhaps in need of a "freshen up". We popped in for... More

Kendall is a great place to visit and exploring. I believe there are 26 pubs in the town, we chose to have a beer and lunch at the Dog and Gun. It's a small friendly inviting pub with old world charm that supports the local mountain rescue by patrons putting money in the coins in the cracks in the old... More
