We were a little worried as we entered the pub as it had been completely "re-done" since we were last here October time this year. We needn't have worried. They have done very well in keeping the same feel/atmosphere and their famous goulash was as fabulous as ever! If you don't like dogs this is most certainly not the place... More

My husband & I go to the Lakes a couple of times a year sometimes with our dog and we always visit the Dog & Gun. We knew it had had a refurb so went with an open mind, I don't dislike it but I'm not sure they got it right either. We arrived mid afternoon on a Friday &... More

This is a wonderful trad pub with some great local beers and some basic meals that are very tasty. I would recommend the baked Camembert and the Goulash

A lovely hour spent in the warmth after Christmas shopping in the cold. Tasty food, good beer and friendly staff. The bonus was our dog was welcomed by bar staff and given some doggy biscuits.

Lovely pub is now wrecked. Seems to of forgotten that people are not sardines. Staff service is very slow. Avoid if there is one person in front of you. It is amazing how long they take to serve one person.

We came here at the beginning of December somewhat nervous as we had read the reviews following the refurbishment. We needn't have worried - the beer is sill good, it retains its character and has been given a new lease of life. We didn't eat here this time but we will be back.

Oh dear another oldy world pub bites the dust. Refurbishment looks cheap and tacky and taken Steak and Kidney Pudding of the menu. We have been using this pub for 20 years, sorry won't be back.

Why why did they destroy a great Pub. Only one good thing about the D and G is the selection of real ale etc. The heart of this great Pub has been ripped out. If not broken why fix it !!!

Food is hearty and good value. Medium portion more than enough for an average person. It was hard to get a seat which is always a good sign. Worthy of note is that there are more dogs than customers which is important if dogs are not your thing. Real ales are on offer, many of which are from the local... More

My boyfriend and I popped in here twice during our weekend stay in Keswick. It's a lovely little pub, great decor and dog friendly too (we didn't have one with us but I'm a dog lover so was in my element!) great range of local ales and all reasonably priced. My only criticism is that it does get really busy... More
