Close but no cigar

This was our first trip to this restaurant and although the service was reasonably good, the food was not the best. The portion sizes left a lot to be desired, the chicken in my jungle curry was dry and chewy, and although the sauce was very good, overall I wasn't impressed.

I've been here twice now and the first time it was pretty good. However, on my second visit this weekend I was not impressed at all. My friends meals were adequate, but my meal was terrible. I had the volcano chicken which is supposed to be flambéed in front of you. Firstly, the guy couldn't get his lighter to light... More

We visited as a group and all had the set menu plus a soup. The soup wasn't great - it wasn't spicy enough and lacked taste. The prawn crackers given were the ones that chinese restaurants give out (bland) and not the spicy/tasty ones that are usually given out by thai restaurants. The rest of the starters were fine. The... More

Friendly warm welcome, good choice of dishes, very tasty and hot food, why isn't this place packed?! Don't be put off by the outside, dare to try it and you won't be disappointed. A good alternative to the pubs in Keswick and worth the short walk from the town centre. A real star!

2nd visit to this restaurant and we had another lovely meal. It was Sunday night so not full but we had to wait a little too long for the main course hence the 4star rating. Food was tasty and hot so no complaints. Although the waitress wasn't Thai, the owner and chef are so you get the authenticity in the... More

We had a takeaway for 2. Found it a little expensive but most places are in the area. Wasn't expecting much as I'm always disappointed with takeaway food, but the food was really good, biggest prawns I've ever had, cooked well and so tasty.

I like Star of Siam. Let me put that out in the open from the off; I like the food. But, my goodness, it needs a face lift; I get the feeling the place was painted decades ago, pre-war; the whole place exudes abandoned public toilet. It seems unfair to put this; I like the food and the service. The... More

My wife and I thought the food here was delicious. Having recently been to Thailand and taking cookery classes there, we think we can distinguish average from very good Thai food. I always order Pad Thai and a Green Curry to benchmark one place from another. At Star of Siam I thought the food was delicious. All the flavours i... More

We have been going here for 3 years, the resturant decor is very nice & well maintained, although the food is not the best Thai we have eaten its very pleasant and fairly priced. The main issue for me is there is little atmosphere as in December when we go it always seems to be very quiet, only 8 other... More
