Tend to go here on a daily basis to get a coffee albeit a free one due to the loyalty card scheme. Unfortunately as soon as the staff either recognise you or realise you have a loyalty card they are not interested. If they do not like the loyalty scheme they shouldn't offer it. There is one particular member of... More

Having had a really nice meal at Artisan before, my partner and I haven't even considered trying elsewhere for our sunday lunch. On arrival, we chose a table outside as it was a rather pleasant day and we both enjoy a cigarette with our beverage. The only available table has not been cleared yet but we were sure this would... Only use this cafe because we get a free drink with the Booths loyalty card. But even that deal isn't worth the hassle. The staff are not interested, took our order for one tea and one coffee plus scones, walked five paces then returned saying she had forgotten what we wanted!!!! I'd rather pay more for friendly service and where... More

Very ordinary menu. Prince Charles opened Artisan when it sold local food and had a small cafe/restaurant. They gradually gave up on local food downstairs and expanded the eating area. It had a good start with interesting food reflecting the superior food store upstairs. Now it feels as if they've given up. The menu is limited and boring. Quality is... More

I came here with my nan and mum for some lunch a few weeks ago, the women we were firstly served by weren't very friendly so that didn't give a good first impression, though our waitress turned out to be very friendly. The food we recieved was fairly cold, tasted good though and we'd waited a while for it so... More

Had lunch here and while the food was OK. The service was poor and they were not attentive at all which was quite surprising. When we were there for Saturday lunch they were more interested in talking amongst themselves than taking our order. We waited about 15-20 minutes before anyone came to the table and there was only about 6... More

Ive visited Artisan on a few occasions now, the food is very good, you won't come out hungry with healthy portions across the menu. But unfortunately the service is incredibly slow. On a couple occasions our food turned up before our drinks, which are usually only orange juice. And on a visit today with family we just called in for... More

Had lunch here with my parents during a day visit to Kendal. Having all chosen different items off the menu, it would be fair to say we were all very happy. It would be fair to say that the service was not attentive and personally I didn't like the scrapey noise of the chairs on the floor - it made... More

This really should be one of the better cafes in Kendal, almost everything is right, the place is well appointed, the food is good but the standard of service is pretty poor. As someone who works in a service industry I like to think I understand what is required & I think this is down to poor staff training.
