We was looking forward to our lunch as we had got great reviews of our tastecard which we had use to book us in we arrived on time and was given a table to find that another member of staff had given it out and it clearly stated that the table was reserved so we put On another table without... It's sad to read some of the reviews recently about Kendal Artisan Restaurant and Cafe. It appears things do not seem to have got any better. We used this cafe regularly each week for a number of years. The food is good and always well presented. However, we too had noticed a decline in service, so much so we have... More

Went there for breakfast this week, not very busy, seated and given a drinks menu, after 10 minutes waitress came to take order and we asked for a food menu. Another 5 minutes and another 5 to order, wife ordered Poached Egg and mushroom, me the Vegetarian Breakfast. Waitress said that will be here in about 10 minutes.. After a... More

Artisan is by no means what it once was and the service is sometimes atrocious. However, the food, on this occasion, was pretty good. Eggs Benefict was well-cooked and the cake that followed, delicious. This is a handy place for a quick snack but used to be and still could be much better.

Went in here at 11 am , at 11.15 had still not been asked what I required, eventually I ordered, 2 coffees, 11.30 coffees still not arrived, I walked out, as did 4 other customers. There were only 5 other tables with people on so it was not busy, the problem was only 1 person taking orders, and people queuing... More

Staying with my reviews of only very good or very bad unfortunately I have to say that this restaurant was considered by myself to be in the good class seems to be losing ground quickly. Whereas everything seemed to be well run and organised it now appears to be quite the opposite.(we have noticed this on other occasions.). After waiting... More

Turning a corner from poorer times! My mother and I both had the Northern Rarebit with Westmoreland Chutney - it was delicious on homebaked ryebread. Chips crisp and tasty - my father had the Eggs Benedict, salads to match not overwhelming but served as a welcome garnish. Generous portions and thoughtful in execution. Well done - but don't put your... More

This used to be my favourite lunch time place in Kendal. Visited a month ago and it seemed like a different place - queues to be seated, long time to order, even longer for food to arrive - and then it was the wrong meal. Food was good, but menu greatly reduced. Left disappointed. Went back again today - same... More

What a shame...this has turned from being a lovely Saturday shopping lunch spot to a rather unpleasant experience. It's not the food, which is still decent and tasty, but the lack of staff, organisation and rather neglectful feeling altogether. Low staff numbers mean tables and not cleared and the queues grow...until someone looses patience and leaves. The ordering time is... More

Once upon a time there was a lovely place to eat in Kendal. The food was tasty, presented well, in fact it was so good that whenever my Husband and I visited Kendal, which is approx. every 6 months, we made a bee line for the Artisan. We were in Kendal 19th and 20th September. The waitress hardly gave us... More
