Average place for a coffee/tea and cake.

Booths is ok for a quick drink and a cake or snack but the cafe is now self service and are not the cheapest place to get refreshments but very convenient when shopping in store.

We visited this café for the first time since it became self service and although it is no longer a 'special' artisan place we found that the service was much improved by being self service and the bacon sandwich was excellent. Having a Booths card means you get a free drink too. Has to be good!

It may be reasonably priced but the food we had should be. The bruschetta consisted of two thick soggy slices of bread smothered in roasted veg, the accompanying side salad was large chunks of bitter frisee with the odd piece of tomato thrown in. Very Poor. The one redeeming feature was that the fizzy water was cold and only charged... More

Went in Booths restaurant / Artisan with some friends not from the area. We have been in before when it was table service and far better. Our friends had never been before so the whole experience was embarrassing given the amount of issues we had. Not enough staff. Making the cafe self service was clearly a cost cutting exercise but... We visited the (previously lovely) Restaurant downstairs at Booth's Supermarket at lunchtime on Saturday January 16th. Whereas there used to be a friendly "buzz" about the place last time we visited in the summer, this particular outing on a lovely snowy day proved to be a bit of a let down. There were a lot of empty tables. The staff... More

Booths present excellent quality food and drink a cut above the big chain supermarkets and also has interesting regional fare on offer, very clean shops with attention to detail.

A number of friends and I visit Kendal 5 or 6 times a year for charitable purposes. For many years now we have always visited Booths for a quality experience and lunch. I would go so far as to say, that despite it being a "supermarket café", it was always more like visiting a quality restaurant. The food and service... More

Really lovely lunch. The system has changed since we last went. You now order and pay before you sit down. Took a bit longer in some ways but made sense to do this. Pleasant staff. Can always rely on good quality food.

Today I visited Kendal and as usual I called at the Booths Cafe for a coffee/snack whilst shopping . What a change since last visit a few months ago . It is now semi self service ( order at the counter and get your own cutlery and condiments ) I stood at the counter to order my food and was... More

On our way back to Scotland from Leeds we decided to stop at Booths to hopefully get a sandwich/roll or whatever to keep us going on the motorway. Having read good reports i was extremely disappointed that they had no rolls, couldn't make one so instead chose a piece of their homemade meat pie. BIG MISTAKE!! the smell in the... More
