Never usually crave salad, but I am after eating one of these.

Stumbled across this gem when we took our two babies and son into Kendal for the day last week. My husband and I both had salads. I had the meat version with mint leaves and salad leaves. My husband had the walnut and blue cheese version. We were both disappointed when we'd finished because they... read more

We struggle to manage a trip into Kendal without ending up going to Baba Ganoush for lunch. It is a hidden gem with amazing amounts of choice. The soups are always tasty and plentiful and the salads are delicious. It's a must visit when you are in town.

What a find! This is by far the best eatery that I have tried in Kendal. I chose the Ploughmans Salad Box, fantastic, my daughter had a falafel wrap and my husband had quiche. There are five soups to chose from too, I can't praise it enough, go, you will not be disappointed.

Have eaten both in the carry out, food shop , which can also do eat in and the restaurant / cafe in same passage way. This venue is tucked away but very well patronised by locals and those visitors who happen upon it. Very reasonable prices ( compared to south of UK) for creative , inventive , wholesome food .... Cute little place. You can almost taste the freshness in the food. I wish we had eaten in the canteen and not the the little shop bit as it was a bit overwhelming being new to the place. Would recommend the pulled pork sandwich and peanut-butter and caramel brownie. Yummy! Most of the staff were lovely but the one who... More

Do try this place - it's different - and a real surprise for a little town like Kendal. Might seem a lot to pay for a packed lunch/meal but the £5.45 takeout from their canteen up the street is every bit as good as eating in - possibly better!? Enough for two I think. Nice cafe - was packed with... More

Southerners, let me translate for you: At Baba Ganoush you will pay half the price of down south, yet get twice the quality you'd expect. I had the Welsh rarebit, which was good but too cheesy (there must've been a block of cheese in it) - and two slices, when just one would've done! JB had the potato hash with... More

We were staying in Kendal and popped into this café/deli to collect some take away lunches prior to setting off into the hills. The food was excellent (we ordered a couple of the ploughman's salad boxes), all meat and cheese were succulent especially the beautifully rare roast beef. There was also an excellent range of cakes to counter balance the... More

First time visiting this cafe and really enjoyed it, can't wait to go back. So many things I want to try on the menu.Today I had the cheese and ham melts with salad and caramelised onion relish and crisps, but it was a hard decision to make!!! So much looked good.
