The full monty breakfast at just under £6 must be the best value breakfast in town.A plate full of breakfast favourites steaming hot, plus toast and a proper mug of tea.

To call The Union Jack a 'greasy spoon' is unfair, although the term does epitomise a family run cafe with home made food. It is certainly both of these. The business has been part of Kendals culture for generations. Home made food, friendly atmosphere and everything reasonably priced including a cracking full English. It is definitely worth a visit..

This is, without doubt, the best cafe in Kendal. Brunch today was excellent, as ever, coupled with delightful service and lots of smiles. You will never go hungry here, but I defy you not to return for more!

Me and my partner came here for brunch. The atmosphere was very welcoming, as were the staff. Portion sizes were generous, and they were willing to substitute mushrooms for anything of my choice which I was very pleased by. The price was very reasonable for what we had. Very fast service. Would recommend.

This traditional English cafe is really excellent. Breakfasts feature tip top, local ingredients and customers are always greeted with a smile.

Had the full monty (i think) breakfast, very tasty, good mug of tea, pleasant people and very reasonably priced , in this age of fast food outlets and corporate sameness the Union jack is a welcome change

The Union Jack is truly a quintessential English café in every sense of the word! Delicious piping hot meals, beautifully prepared food - and plenty of it - and courteous friendly service. There are many cafes in Kendal, but the Union Jack will always be my café of choice. The tea is absolutely delicious: good old fashioned strong tea the... More
