We were in Kendal late afternoon and the cafes were closing and the pubs had stopped serving meals when we spotted Pumpkins Bistro and went in. We were told it was only 10 minutes to closing time. We must have looked disappointed and the chef asked us what we would want to eat. We said just something simple like baked... More

Very tasty, fresh food. The food was really well cooked and really well presented. Reasonably priced and good vegetarian options. They also cater for gluten free.

I am a regular visitor of Pumpkins as the food is never a let down. We visited yesterday both me and my friend had the fish and chips and loved it! Only thing which I was disappointed with was that we were never asked if we wanted anymore drinks with our meal or asked how our food was throughout to... More

I live abroad, so one of the treats of coming home is a trip to Kendal and, for the past few years, a visit to Pumpkins. The food is wonderful and it was great to see the place really full and buzzing with life when we had lunch there. The food is always amazing and I wish I could try... More

Just had the worst Fish and Chips ever! Pumpkins do a dinner time offer of Haddock chips, Mushy peas, a slice of bread and butter and a cup of tea for £7. Sounds good, but leave it be. It was awful! The batter was so full of frying oil it was not edible. The chips looked as though they had... More

We have come to the area for a visit to the lakes. The cafe sits just off the main high street in Kendal. Reception from ALL staff very friendly and welcoming and prompt. The decor is full of light neutral relaxing colours. The prices are reasonable and what I would expect to pay. We had full english breakfasts which met... More

Busy little spot, but excellent service. We hadn't booked, but they managed to fit us in, we had seafood pancake, Moroccan vegetarian tagine, and fish & chips. We all enjoyed our meal, great value for money, and the Tiramasu for pudding was delish!!

Soggy pie. Soggy chips. Drinks slammed on the table without a tray. No talking at all when serving us "enjoy your food" or "can I get you anything else". Service was quite half way. Dissapointing. Oh and as you have accused a previous review I do know it's the right place. (Same street as Weatherspoons and round the corner from... More
