We were on our way to Hawkshead and stopped off here for something to eat. The food was yum. The beer was nice too. Off the road but probably worth making the effort to find.

We have visited this pub a few times now with family members. It's one of our favourite pubs to visit whilst we are up in the lakes. Fantastic food Lovely atmosphere in the pub. The staff are all very friendly and welcome you when you come in. The best bit is this pub is dog friendly.

My friends and I weren't expecting much for our lunch here. To our surprise the food was nicely presented and it tastes good too! And to top it all the customer service was brilliant!

Came for a night out here a few years ago, been desperate to return. So when we came and stayed for one night we weren't disappointed, room 1 (we were upgraded to the family room) was immaculate and modern. The staff were absolutely lovely, so helpful. Will stay again :) food was fabulous and their beer was yummy:) A taxi... More

Me and my partner ate here for Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. This was our first visit to the Lake District and it won't be the last. We had the baked Camembert cheese which was big enough to share followed by the roast beef which again didn't disappoint we even sampled the made on site ale which was lovely.... More

We visited the Watermill at Ings recently and were not disappointed - they have many accolades - especially Cumbria's best pub of the year for 2013. Dog friendly, great menu. Service was quick & very friendly staff. Food was lovely. We enjoyed and will return if and when we are in the area.

The staff were absolutely charming at this large but cosy pub - plenty of tables, and a nice buzz about the place. Good, interesting beers brewed under their own roof. The food was decent, filling and reasonable if your expectations are set appropriately: pub food, not gastropub. Expect lasagne, beef and ale pie, sausage and mash, baked camembert, scampi, crumble... More

Our trips to the Lakes with friends routinely finish here, not least for the amazing beer range, but this time we were impressed by the revised menu. Although as we always do, we checked out the specials board, all our eyes were drawn to the main menu fish platter, and we ordered two full portions and two starter ones to... More

We stayed across the road at The Hill, and The Watermill was recommended and convenient. We weren't disappointed. The food is tasty and the portions generous. There is a wonderful range of real ales - those brewed by the Watermill are not to be missed

This is local to us, but having worked our way through what was a fairly uninventive pub menu we'd stopped going for food. They've won us back :) We randomly ended up there for lunch and were pleasantly surprised - the core menu is the same and they still have a fair few specials, but there were new resident items...
