Picked this pub for a slap up lunch to celebrate the end of a superb three days walking in the Lakes. Sadly it was a big disappointment, especially having bypassed so many other enticing looking pubs on our walks, we would have been better off with our accustomed picnic lunch! Super heated cannelloni scalded one of our party, whilst scraggy... More

It may look a little dated but that is all part of the character of a good old traditional pub! Two adults and 4 children all enjoyed our meals. Quality of food was excellent, service friendly, value very good. We will go back again later this week and hopefully it will all be as good as it was first time... More

We stayed at the campsite up the road from this little Hamlet so naturally The Sun was our first stop and sign of civilisation. Food is lovely and reasonably priced. Cask ales also lovely. Friendly staff buzzing around all the time. No wonder it was so busy on a week day in a fairly remote locale.

We found this wonderful Inn purely by chance driving on a quiet back road. Great atmosphere and attentive service. Venison was really yummy, veggies delicious and the salmon was OK. I recommend the fruit pudding for dessert! Such a relief getting away from the crowds around Lake Windermere.

We called at the Sun Inn after a game of golf, the staff were very nice and we sat outside as it was such a lovely day. We only ordered sandwiches and chips but they came very nicely presented very fresh and tasty. The pub seems very relaxed and would have liked to have had the time to stay longer.

We have eaten here before but first time I have done a review for this place. We all enjoyed our food. Service a bit on the slow side , from ordering to getting the food was not far short of an hour. Very pleasant staff. We did get forgotten about after we finished our food and were too full for... More

This is an amazing restaurant. The food is 5 star quality. You get fantastic portions which are great value for money. They have a 3 course menu list but the food is so amazing and so filling that you can only just manage 2 courses. To have 3 courses you would need to starve yourself beforehand it is that good.... Visiting Cumbria we only found this place because the pub we were going to eat in was shut (On a Tuesday evening?) Anyway, the place is warm and welcoming-low beams, whitewash walls, olde worlde prints on the walls-staff are friendly and efficient, nice, quiet bar area and separate dining area but... The meal we had was the best I can... More
