Sorry to say the coffee was not up to much while the victoria sponge cake was dry and missing any jam. It did have a lot of butter icing.

Called into Poppi Red for both elevenses and lunch today whilst visiting Hawkshead for the Beatrix Potter attractions. On both occasions we found the service to be prompt, friendly and professional. Our cake at elevenses and lunch were both very tasty with good portion size and although a little on the pricey side, this is probably related to the vicinity... More

Stopped here for a quiet half hour. Lovely sitting outside and watching the world go by. Staff were helpful and friendly. Coffee and crumpets were very good.

Stopped for tea and cake in the afternoon. Lovely selection of cakes. Nice little cafe for a quick bit to eat was quite busy for a small place which was a good sign. Really nice little place.

The prices charged didn't reflect those on the menu, but the cake was nice. Crumpets with butter, cheese and chutney was a new experience on me, and was quite good, the chutney however just tasted a bit like soil (sorry) and needs swapping out for something else. I reckon a carmalised red onion chutney would be good to compliment the... More

We stumbled on this little gem on a trip to Hawkshead. Just had a mocha and fruit tea bread with butter and Wensleydale cheese. It was absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous little boutique shop adjoining too. Defo worth a visit.

Cafe has tables inside and out. We visited on a Monday when it was quiet although we have been there on a Saturday when it can get cramped, this is due to the cafe doubling as a gift shop. The food is good with generous portions and the staff are friendly. There are some interesting gifts and fashions available to... More

Slow service and poor attitude. Made to feel that being to busy and short staffed was our fault. Very expensive and not particularly exciting food, wont recommend.

You are completely correct, we had a terrible day here at Poppi Red. It was very stressful day and we struggled to keep up. We can only apologies. We hope you still had a nice experience in the Lakes. More
