My husband and I were recommended this resteraunt by a local claiming it was the best by far in the town and he wasn't wrong. Very quaint village pub style. Despite how busy the place was the service was very quick and efficient. The menu was varied and good choice for all three courses at a reasonable price. They also... More

We walked in on a wet Friday night without a booking and they managed to seat our family of six. The food was really amazing. 2 of the party hard the shoulder of lamb... Delicious and beautifully presented. Kids meals would have been large enough for an adult. Mish and chisps were the best I think I've ever tasted although... More

Myself and friends were staying at Low Wray Campsite which is approx 5 miles away and after walking for an hour to a more local pub to the camp site and then being refused food as their kitchen had closed 2 minutes earlier we stumbled upon this hotel/restaurant purely by chance/luck. After phoning ahead to check when they stopped serving... More

Hubby and I stayed here for the weekend, dined here once, another pub for dinner once and another pub for lunch once. The Queens was definitely the most upmarket and felt the most dinnerish if that's makes sense. It was very busy but the staff worked their socks off to keep on top of service. We had cocktails in the... More

Know the area well but don't live here any longer unfortunately. So on my second visit back this year decided to pop into the Queens Head for a bite to eat. Decent weather so took a table outside. Feeling a touch peckish so decided to go for the special starter - mackerel with tomato salsa on brochette, followed by Caesar... More

Great old pub with friendly staff and dog friendly seating area. The fish & chips was really great well worth a visit. The place was quite busy on the Tuesday night we visited, so glad we had booked a table. Nice bar area with high stools and tables and outside seating area. Can't wait to go back.

Queens Head appears to be a traditional charming pub but there are also a few dining cozy rooms. We weren't starving so we shared a nice tomato basil soup, beet root & goats cheese salad (lovely presentation) and a pizza. The pizza was larger than expected, crust was crispy and the cheese was extra creamy and delicious. It was quite... More

This pub/restaurant is a disgrace in terms of customer service. Booked a table for 8.30, arrived at 8 and stood at the bar for 10 minutes while one person served two people and three other staff wandered around and did nothing. Left and returned 10 minutes later to find two bar staff. One served one customer and left the bar... More

The food was excellent, we went back for a second meal the next night. The lamb and mash, and the haddock and chips were delicious. The only thing that can be said against it is the place is so popular ( and no wonder with such tasty food) you can't really linger afterwards, as space is at a premium.
