Great Sunday lunch

Really pleasant pub, clean and nicely decorated. Sunday lunch was great, Fred Flintstone would have loved the shortrib of beef. Good customer service.

Great old fashioned pub, Real log fire. The seafood platter was the best value I have had for a long time, -lobster tail, fresh crab meat, squid, mussels and smoked mackerel salad- all for £16. Try the pork and black pudding scotch egg for a starter - you will never eat one of those mass produced supermarket one again- if... More

Ever had an experience where you order from the menu the. Food arrives at another table and you wish you had ordered what they are eating? I experienced that (in a good way) We attended on a Sunday and I was torn between the fish and chip and the prime rib of beef which formed part of the Sunday dinner.... More

Hi. It is very good to hear that you enjoyed your meal with us, and by the sounds of it you have the perfect excuse to come back to try to rib of beef Sunday Dinner. We do offer a larger portion size on most items on the children's menu, however this may be difficult to spot and so we... More

The Queen's Head has a fantastic location in the middle of the picturesque Hawkshead village. The food is excellent and we were glad we booked in advance. The service was good given the popularity and a couple of minor errors were quickly sorted out. It is quite dark inside and my only major problem was a series of kitsch 'portraits'... More

This pub looks like a real treat but others locally offer better food and service. Having said that it is not bad by any means and does do a good pizza.

I'm sorry to hear we didn't live up to your expectations as our aim is to delight all our customers. As you don't go into detail there isn't much more I can say except I'm glad you enjoyed the pizza! More

We stayed here for two nights last week whilst on a fishing trip. We ate two breakfasts and two evening meals. First, the breakfasts were faultless and came out quick. The evening meals were patchy. The half pint of cockles were the same watery ones you can but in your local Asdas, which disappointed me given the location. My risotto... More

Thank for your review. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. However it's disappointing to read about your meal. The risotto is cooked to order and I cannot understand why it would not have been hot enough. We do prefer our customers to tell us about any problems while they are actually dining with us so that we... More

Stayed over in hawkshead after a hard day on Sharp Edge. Had booked a table for 7.30 Saturday night, glad we did. The place was packed with diners so glad we had booked. Beers and food were spot on with a soup starter and main leaving us with no room for a Pud...thanks also to the staff team for looking... More

Four of us had a meal here on Friday night. The food was really good and great care was taken with the dietary requirements of one of the party who is celiac. Would recommend it.

We were really looking forward to this one after reading the menu outside. It is a place we have very fond memories of from a romantic weekend away approximately ten years ago, when we had venison to die for! We chose the lamb as we had read that they carefully select local suppliers. However, very surprised when our slow roasted... More

I'm sorry to hear we were such a letdown that it warranted CAPITAL LETTERS. I feel the need to point out however that our lamb is NOT MICROWAVED. (Our outrage at this suggestion also requires the cap locks on!) Obviously slow cooked lamb cannot be cooked to order. The clue is in the title and I'm sure you would have... More
