Called in at the Sun Tea Rooms today as I could not believe the size of the cakes in the window! Given that I was starving at the time and still could only manage one toastie and half a cake, it is testimony to this terrific cafe! Cakes are so good you will surely die (your arteries will not cope!!).... More

Me and my husband went on a bike ride on our holiday to the lakes and stopped in Hawkshead for something to eat. We have been here before and every time the absolutely gorgeous looking cakes in the window draw us in. I got soup to start which was a little salty and wasn't the best vegetable soup iv had... More

This tea room is very tightly packed if you sit inside but it's really nice, characterful and cosy. It doesn't have a toilet which is a shame so go before you visit. I ordered a vegetable soup here which wasn't good 4/10 but then ordered a hot beef sandwich with horseradish which was one of the best sandwiches I've ever... More

Came across this cafe by chance while visiting Hawkshead and this perhaps is one of the best cafes that I have visited. Fantastic food, real value money, cosy atmosphere. A great find with 'wow' factor, you won't be disappointed.

£5.50 for a small over burnt sausage and about ten chips, went to a restaurant in central Ambleside and paid £1.85 for a massive portion of chips that dwarfed the ones here and tasted better too. This place is a joke, cramped, dark and expensive what a waste of £11.00. incredibly disappointed. Grumpy staff too, who also looking at replies... More

Happened across this little gem whilst looking for somewhere for a brew and a cake. We were after somewhere a bit different and this filled the gap perfectly. My partner and I had a drink each and shared a slice of lemon and blueberry cake. The cake was very moist and the filling was tasty without being overpowering. The table... More

We chanced on this eaterie, and decided to eat as it looked like rain. Good menu choices, and everything cooked to order. When it arrived (not unduly delayed), superb quality. Simple fare, well cooked. Then for sweet, we had (very large) portions of cake/gateau: so large, we had to ask for boxes to take home that which we had no... More

We are regulars at The SunTea Rooms, over the past few weeks it has changed up a gear. Paul is now baking beautiful bread to take away along with pastries, pies, sausage rolls and quiche. New items are appearing on the menu on a regular basis. If you want great quality food at reasonable prices look no further. The Sun... More
