We had been to this cafe two years previously and wanted to bring our little family and mother to sample their delicious cakes They had the door open so we tried to go in with a buggy and were instantly jumped on by a woman who was very rude to my husband. Saying there is no room and he must... More

We went in to the Sun Tea Rooms for late lunch on a rainy Friday afternoon. It was almost empty - just one family sitting in the corner. We went to sit in the window seat as it was a bit dark inside and were told in quite an unfriendly manner to move to a very small table right next... More

We had a walk through the village to see what else was on offer, but the sight of the huge, homemade cakes in the window were enough to draw us back. A friendly welcome and a busy place and some locals enjoying lunch there (always a good sign!). I had the chicken caesar salad which was delicious and a piece... More

We were lured in by the special's board outside with Fish Chowder on it, one of our favourite things, and by the huge, tasty looking cakes in the window. We received a very warm and friendly welcome when we stepped as did all the other customers who came in during our meal. The drinks were excellent quality and set up... More

this is the perfect start or end to visiting Beatrix Potter destinations. We stumbled upon it by chance three years ago, and headed straight back the first chance we had! our party chose a variety of cakes and drinks, all excellent and generous portions- do ask for a box to take the left-overs with you. Would definitely visit again and... More

We stopped there by chance but we would had stayed there forever! Fantastic comfort food place. Delicious homemade hamburgers and very good soup of the day. Dream cakes (but beware the dimension, a whole meal in itself!)! Very gentle lady! We couldn't have asked for more!

Took my Gran here for lunch today, we both had soup so we could indulge in a huge slice of delicious homemade cake! Soup was lovely with fresh crusty bread but the cakes are what make this place worth visiting! I have to say the fish and chips also looked lovely, served wrapped in newspaper. Definitely worth a visit -... More

A must visit if you are in Hawkshead. The cakes are simply divine (and huge!). The best seafood chowder we ever had anywhere in our global travels...really. They close about 4pm so get there by late morning or early afternoon.
