Amazing cake

The cakes here are huge- specially made tins from Liverpool Shipyards about 21" diameter and 3 layers deep-2 portions were more than enough for 4 of us. It's a tiny place, only 20 seats and we were so impressed we went back the next day for more. The ladies who run it are great- they put candles on... read more

We ate here when we arrived in Hawkshead, we were wowed by the fab looking cakes in the window! It dies say on the door they can't accomadte pushchairs due to the size, we luckily managed to squeeze in with our folded pushchair as it was a little to cool to sit outside. Served quickly and drinks arrived in a... More

I visited Hawkshead with a group of people . I had been recommender the tea rooms as a great place to eat. I was greeted by a waitress and I asked for a table of 3. I also asked her if they did mashed potato she said yes. My wife wanted fish cakes but they came with a beet root... More

Being a tour driver in the lakes I always have lunch at the Sun Tea Rooms. It's quite simply the best place within the park to eat lunch or tea. I was in today with eight of my overseas visitors and one couple commented that it was the best meal they have eaten since coming to the UK six weeks... More

Stopped off on a rainy afternoon for a Hot chocolate and piece of cake and were not disappointed. The cakes in the window must tempt a lot of passing-trade due to their huge size! I had the chocolate strawberry sponge which was filled with real strawberries and cream, I managed to finish mine but my girlfriend (Victoria sponge) couldn't finish... More

Wow. You know when you've had a excellent meal somewhere, and it was 2 years ago since you were in the area, you think to yourself that it just might not be quite as good as last time? Well in this case it was even better. An amazing fish and chips, cod and salmon fishcakes, steak and blue cheese pie... More

Unfortunately the sandwich portions were so big we didn't have the opportunity to sample the fantastic looking cakes. This was a marvellous experience on a cold day. Very enjoyable and fantastic value. This is one not to be missed if you are in the area.

We called in here after finishing the Hawkshead trail race and the cakes were the perfect reward!! They are huge and so delicious and moist! Only thing that would make it even more perfect would be if they let dogs in!!

Lovely food and drink, the portion sizes deserve a special mention, one slice of cake would have done for the 3 of us. Nice cozy feel and friendly staff. Excellent value for money. Would recommend to everyone.
