Been to Wilfs in Stavely which was very good so when visiting Dove Cottage my wife and I went into the Wilfs cafe there for some lunch. Menu was poor compared to Stavely and the quality of food was very disappointing.

A group of us went here for coffee before Dove Cottage and lunch afterwards, Really good pots of coffee and home-made biscuits, and a good lunch selection (though some people were rather daunted by the size of the doorsteps holding up their toasted cheese). Friendly service. (And if you cross the road and go through the hotel car-park you can... More

Been here before as it's a half way place for us and some friends. Easy parking, relaxed atmosphere and the food is good. Today we went for the full english which was well presented, cooked well and tasted great. Usually Wilf's is clean and tidy but I have to say that the toilets were not at their best today which... Stopped here for some welcome refreshment on our way back into Grasmere after a climb up Silver How....had the afternoon tea which was a scone with jam and cream plus a tea or coffee...the scone was beautiful and pretty large and they didn't skimp on the jam and cream either!! Our daughter had a chocolate brownie which was also very... More

Wilf's is a favourite among the locals for a good reason; the food is delicious! It's true that the outside is rather bland, but the food is well-seasoned, and nicely presented. The soups we had were delicious and HOT; the veggie burger was a hit; and the salads were fresh and crisp. The car park is close by and know... More

The outside is very unprepossessing but step inside and its a different matter. Its bright with art for sale on the walls. There is plenty of seating and it offers a varied menu and reasonable prices. As we only wanted a snack we both had toasted teacakes with butter and jam. Together with a pot of tea and a cafetiere... From the outside of this cafe we didn't think there would be much to commend it but we were wrong! We had a cold drink and a sandwich (which included crisps and salad) in very pleasant surroundings after looking round Dove Cottage. There should be a 'good' category because this was better than average but not quite 'very good'. I... More

Me my husband and our 2 sons ending up eating here after first looking in 3 other cafes in the centre of grasmere. All 3 were extortionally priced and didn't seem to have children's menus. The young lady who served us, both behind the counter when I ordered my food and also when she brought the food out was very... More
