We ended up either getting afternoon tea or a light linch here three days in a row! Everything is well-prepared and tasty. Excellent prices too! Great, friendly staff.

An old family favourite, I was hopeful that the restaurant would still be a lovely place for lunch years after our last visit. If anything it's improved. Our baked potatoes were lovely with the chilli being the best I've tasted in a long time and the cakes tempting and large. Sit outside if you possibly can as the views of... More

We were at this restaurant for lunch and I am so happy we stumbled upon this lovely place. The food is very good and fresh. The staff is extremely warm and attentive. As well as very helpful. The seating outside, by the river, is awesome. Of course, the fearless crows are a pain but manageable. The restaurant goes back over... More

Our food came to us only to find the sandwich I had ordered - egg - was turkey. I said that this was not my order and he seemed quite insistant as it was for our table number, but as I said to him - I'm vegetarian so no way would I order a turkey sandwich and he finally went... More

We have visited here before and had always been happy with the food and service. However having ordered our meal I received what can only be described as an I inedible meal which had obviously been microwaved to the extent it was past redemption!!!! ,I returned the meal and the young lady asked if I would like something else which... Dropped in for a bowl of chilli - which is served with a few Doritos and little bit of salad- and glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Very nice- obviously there are a few places to eat in this village but no complaints. A bit of friendliness would be welcome and make it a 5 star. There's a very nice... More

The main attraction of this cafe on a sunny day has to be the terrace overlooking the river and bridge. Not being a sun-lover I can say that it is equally good inside and the tea and cake are worth sampling! Great for a sweet treat - coffee and walnut cake a classic done well.

We made a little stop for lunch at this cafe next to St.Oswald's Church. The place has a very interesting location, as it overlooks a small river and the churchyard, where the grave of William Wordsworth is. The atmosphere is beautiful and rather peaceful. We had a lovely time. In terms of food, there are not many things on the... More

We visited the Grasmere Tea Gardens twice during a 4 night stay in the lake district and on each occasion the weather couldn't have been more contrasting! on our first visit we were met with glorious sunshine and sat on the terrace with two paninis and a slice of cake. The second time, the heavens had opened and we sat... More

Popped in here for lunch with the dog, who was made welcome on the terrace with a freshly filled water bowl. Excellent homemade soup & a great sandwich. Good value for money & the staff were very friendly. Also great clean loo! Presume however that it is only suitable with a dog in fine weather.
