second time we have been here this year, so decided to post a review; stopped off on sunday after checking out of our hotel, the place was a little busy so we waited for a 4 seater table outside, overlooking the river. 3 filter coffees and a pot of tea brought outside while we watched the ducks in the water... We stopped here for lunch. Menu wasn't extensive but the food was as fresh as you can get. All I had was a take-away ham and cheese sandwhich, but it was the best ham and cheese sandwhich I've ever had! My friend enjoyed hers too, and the soup.

We found this tea room by the river with inside and outside seating overlooking a magnificent church. Church bells were ringing "The day thou gavest Lord has ended". A friendly welcome and smile gave confidence of a well selected tea room. All infused to prepare the mood for the pleasures yet to come. The self service was reasonably prompt and... More

The Grasmere Tea Gardens was a lovely little restaurant alongside a brook or small river. It sits opposite the church with the grave of a famous poet named Wordsworth. Great sandwiches, soups, desserts and nice ambiance. Good value if you're in this little town for a quick stop.

We stumbled across these tea gardens as we were wandering through Grasmere. There were so many tea shops we were spoilt for choice, but we certainly made the right choice, the scones were fresh out of the oven, served with jam and cream. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive without being pushy. Certainly the place we will head for... More

(I apologise in advance for the essay!) Only just joined trip advisor and this is my second review. I joined to write a review about a fantastic place in Bowness called Riva a new Italian restaurant and I enjoyed my time there so much that the waiter asked if I had the time could I leave a comment about it,... We stopped here when visiting Grasmere recently for coffee and cake and really liked it. Its in a lovely location and we managed to get a table overlooking the river - they also served the best Expresso I had in our week away in the Lakes. The only downside was that it was closed by 4pm on the other day... More

I only went in for a coffee and ordered a black Americano as listed on the menu. I was given a black filter coffee. Would the management please note that an Americano is an expresso topped up with hot water. You need to have a proper coffee machine to make this and I couldn't see one behind the counter.
