Lovely setting for coffee and cake

We stopped in here as a family of 5, all peckish for some brunch. Lovely choice of cakes and good coffee. There was a nice seating area outside overlooking the river. We sat inside as the tables outside wouldn't accommodate our sixe of party. Only complaint would be that there are no menus on... read more

The chili I had was great. The pain is and soup that my parents had were also good. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice lunch while in town.

Just had a lovely coffee and apple cake and shelter from the rain. Beautiful setting. Pleasant staff (unusual in the Lakes we have found this year?) and, although not the cheapest, not too bad given where it is.

We were staying in grasmere and seen this small but lovely area to sit and watch the ducks play in the river below. It is next To the church and 1 minute away from THe Wordsworth gardens and grave stones. Seating inside and out, A cabinet full of the most amazing home made cakes and scones. The hardest part is... Often stop here for a bowl of chilli, refreshing change from sandwiches. Nice setting if you can get table outside. Cakes yummy too

We were drawn into having our lunch here for the setting, which was overlooking the stream. We sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine. For what we had (2 fairly bland turkey & cranberry paninis with lettuce that was brown round the edges& scones) with tea & coffee it came to the pricey sum of £20. It really was not worth... More

Perfect setting with its riverside terrace overlooking St. Oswald's Church and Wordsworth's Daffodil Garden. Considering its location the prices here are very reasonable. There are plenty of tables inside and out and the service was very quick. We went for the Cumberland Sausage Sandwich and a TIP: The sausage sandwich is gi - normous so order one to share and... From a seat located by the window, one could imagine why Beatrix Potter loved it here. Ducks floated by on the little river, everything so green and beautiful. Order your food at the counter (try to pick one thing from the display case) and enjoy tea or a glass of wine either inside or on the deck overlooking the water... More

Visited this café as it looked lovely from the outside. Ordered food which was expensive. ... paninis and jacket potato arrived which were 'ok'.... I went to the counter to remind them they hadn't brought my children's desserts.... They brought them to he table and very rudely asked if I had paid!!!!! It was very embarrassing! I said I had...... Stopped by for a quick tea break. Service was friendly and efficient. Sat outside beside the lovely steam with a nice view of the arch bridge and nearby church. The apple pie was great but not used to the turkey ham panini in cranberry sauce. Latte was good. All told a wonderful place for a quick tea break.
