Very pleasant sitting by the river!

Visited here whilst on holiday in the area and would definitely go back again if we could. Staff were very friendly and the outdoor seating is lovely overlooking the river and watching the ducks go by. The food was delicious, we had the chilli and the nicest piece of fruit and chocolate flapjack... read more

The Tea Gardens weren't particularly busy when we arrived but the service was slow and there were tables that hadn't been cleared despite having plenty of staff around. The lady serving was friendly but the 'Thick strawberry milkshake' was a glass of Mr whippy ice cream with strawberry flavouring poured over the top, the scone came with squirty cream which... More

First came to this tea-room with my partner on our first date in 2001, and had a table next to the pretty little river. We went back this week and managed to get the exact same table (or close enough) and we enjoyed delicious coffee and wicked cake whilst reminiscing. The weather was dull the first time, but it was... We have visited Grasmere quite a few times over the years and always admired this pretty little café which has an amazing outdoor seating/eating area but we have never been able to get a table. This time we made sure we did. A quick look at the menu before entering assured us that the prices weren’t too bad at all,... More

The staff are very friendly, and also very helpful. They have great knowledge of the surrounding areas, and gave advice on local walking routes. The food was fantastic, well priced and delicious. We had fresh homemade soup, and sandwiches. They have a good menu with choice of jacket potatoes, sandwiches, soup, homemade chilli etc. I would advise anyone passing to... More

The staff are very friendly and they have a lovely menu and range.the cakes are so moist and tasty. We also looked round the garden centre. We spent Pads, but we would go again, even if it's for the food. What a lovely hidden gem. Thank you ladies.

MY husband and I visited this tea room for a quick coffee to shelter from the weather. We were very impressed, there was a good selection of food to select from but having had a substantial breakfast we opted for a fruit flapjack to share. Both the cake and coffee were of good quality and reasonably priced. The seating area and the outside... Visited Grasmere Tea Gardens at lunchtime yesterday while there was a coach party of Scandinavian? walkers having a set lunch. Despite being extremely busy service was quick and friendly and the soup hot and tasty. Nice quality tea and coffee, one piece of constructive criticism would be the rolls served with the soup - home bake seeded rolls the size... More
