VERY GOOD FIND

Have driven past this pub on several occasions when visiting the area so decided to call in for a meal. Was not disappointed. The food was excellent and the service was very good. Managed to get a table with a lovely view. Very nice way to spend a relaxing couple of hours.

I've been for a meal here several times over the years and the fact I've gone back illustrates my satisfaction but not any more !!! Although the menu said hand cut chips I was served cheap frozen ones with out being advised. When I complained I was told they had ran out, although my partner had them on her plate.... More

Nice enough for a cheap stay away, rustic pub with good staff. Rooms have been updated and are nice but make sure you ask for a room at the back away from the noise of the road or you risk not sleeping. Decent food, not the best but not the worst

To be honest... The road its on is quite baron so as for "choosing" to eat here we didn't have a choice but were happy too as it looked good. It was getting late and driving to find another place, we didn't want to do. Its very nice inside. Tiny bar though. Its much more for eating than drinking in... More

We'd had a bad experience eating at the Lamb Inn in Grasmere so decided to make the short walk from the village out to the Traveller's Rest and it was worth it. My father remembers when this place was used by pack hound owners and was a very busy place. The days of the hounds have gone now, but this... More

Called in for lunch whilst on holiday and was not disappointed. There were a good range of local beers which were well kept. The food was also of a good standard. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. No complaints at all and I would go back there again.

We go 2 or 3 times a year to the excellent evening poetry readings at the Wordsworth Trust in Grasmere, and, after a day of local walking, we often want supper beforehand. We've had expensive and disappointing meals in pubs and hotels in the village centre. This time we decided to try the Traveller's Rest - which is on the... More

Popular pub in unprepossessing residential street but with views over the fells. Friendly staff, large menu which we didn't sample.

The 'Hotel inspector' would tear her hair out. Called in for lunch. the eating area was gloomy and littered with out of use equipment. Empty boxes were stacked in this area, a well worn step ladder was stored behind the counter together with other maintenance equipment. would I go back? No.

We travel a lot up and down from the Lake District coast to our home in warrington and we often call here for food on route. The location is lovely both in summer or winter , the staff are always very pleasant and the food good value with a good selection, in this hot weather the plough mans lunch hits... More
