The Dove Cafe is attached to the Wordsworth Hotel, and provides an informal option to the hotel dining room. We eat there on two evenings this week and found it to be good value, Service was excellent. We also found that at lunchtime, well presented sandwiches with trimmings were far better and cheaper than most of the Grasmere lunch spots... More

We ate outside The Dove in the early evening with the sun shining across Grasmere in towards the restaurant. Good real ale and excellent food served by very friendly staff. Will never forget this night as Germany also beat Brazil 7-1 on the TV when we retired inside the bar area.

We popped in here whilst staying at a nearby hotel. We hadn't booked a table and when we went to ask for a menu where told there was a wedding on so they weren't booking anymore tables in that time period. Despite this the chap behind the bar sorted it so we could eat which was very good of him.... More

We were able to take our small dog with us in the flagged area of the Bistro (suggest that you book a table) as it is only small and gets booked up quickly. Food was very good, well presented and tasty. Friendly and helpful staff.

We visited four places to eat in Grasmere during our short break and in all honesty the bistro was probably the one we enjoyed least. Its not that the food was poor, it might even be that other places were so good, it just lacked something. When I called to book the table the only time available was 8.15pm and... More

This is part of the Wordsworth Hotel in Grasmere, which is a tiny town with one claim to fame, as far as I could tell. My wife and I split the soup of the day (root vegetables, pureed, of course), a mixed green salad, potato chips, and ciabatta sandwich with avocado and brie. The food tasted good, and the waiter,... Stopped for lunch to get away from the pouring rain. Waiter was friendly. Food was very nice, fresh ingredients and well presented. Would visit again without question.

We visited during our weeks holiday with family and wanted one night out on our own. We booked the table the day before. We arrived about 20mins early and were invited to take a seat in the bar while our table was made ready, we also had the menus to start making our choices. Showed to our table dead on... More
