A firm favourite

I used to visit this cafe regularly when I lived in Grasmere and on retuning a few years later for lunch I was not disappointed. I had the veggie quesadilla and a caramel steamer which comes with a little shortbread biscuit. They were both very tasty. The menu choice is great. I'm a vegetarian so... read more

We stopped here for lunch last month - great that it's dog friendly, as we had our Collie with us. I also liked the fact it's licensed :) We both had soup - husband really enjoyed his vegetable version, and my celariac and apple was unusual and tasty - followed by a sandwich. Big portions - we were very full... More

Ten of us rented a holiday cottage in Grasmere, 6 adults and four grand children (ages 5, 7, 7, 10). We needed a place that has good food and can cope with young children and Green's was only 10 minutes walk away. We were welcomed by the staff and our table was ready for us, a good size so none... Stopped by this fabulous cafe today after a long long day walking on the fells above Grasmere. We were starving...and the gorgeous homemade scones (heart shaped, dusted with icing sugar) served with a selection of speciality jams, were so delicious. We were able to sit outside in the late afternoon sun, enjoying freshly brewed coffee and enjoy the ambience of... More

Ate here twice over Easter. A bit knocked back by the priice of the small sausage rolls at £2.95 each, but the next day had a great toasted sandwich, whilst my partner had good mushroom soup, both reasonably priiced. Good selection of food which you are able to eat outside as well as in, just watch the prices.

We'd recommend the sharing plates, lovely start to the meal. We also had an excellent lamb curry. Best to book as can get busy. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Bonus that they take dogs too!

£34 for 2 English Breakfasts, a bacon sandwich, a slice of toast and 4 drinks comes a little sharp but they have a reputation. I realise that as a meat-eating, dairy drinking, wheat eating, alpha-male I'm not their target demographic but I did expect a decent breakfast. What I got was good quality fare which was reasonably well presented but... More

There is no shortage of nice cafes in Grasmere and my hubby and I came across this one while taking a short cut. The menu board outside tempted us in as it is not easy eating out with a wheat allergy! I had one of the est bacon sandwiches ever, the home made gluten free bread was light and tasty,... More

Stopped in for lunch this afternoon and enjoyed a sandwich and soup both of which were very fresh and tasty. Service was fast and attentive if not overly friendly! Great selection of gluten free and meat free options.
