lovely choice in light meals and fresh ingredients. Serves real ales with bar staff who know what they r talking about!
Lovely warm bar after a walk.. We have only ever had sandwiches but they are very good. The beer is very nice and the bats which give you a selection of three are very good. Dog friendly.
Lovely lovely place. We had been before for a drink but hadn't eaten. Lovely atmosphere. We all ordered steak - one adult & 2 children's portions. Portion size excellent - quality superb - service friendly & welcoming. Second night we only ordered 2 main courses and even then left loads. Highly recommended - will definitely be back
We had pre-booked a table for eight adults and two children, 7 and 5 - Sunday 27 Oct. Food was excellent- good choice, well cooked, great meat/fish/veg/flavour combinations. Good service, relaxed atmosphere that suited everyone, especially the children. Couldn't be faulted- an excellent party occasion. Highly recommended.
Great bar with live music at weekends. Suits most age groups. Not a real ale drinker but tried a Cricket Bat of 3 one third pints of 3 different ales and then tried another. Novel idea and added to the experience. Would return. Few other options in Grasmere.

Big question is - was a fresh spoon used for the next hot drink?? Or did he use the spoon that last visited his tonsils? Only he... More
It surprises me that none of the hotels in Grasmere serve real ale so the only place to go is Tweedies Bar which also does a good line in pub food and holds regular live music nights. Rough, ready, warm and welcoming it fills a gap in the market that no-one else does.
We visited our favourite Grasmere bar on 23rd and 24th October for welcome drinks after fellwalking. The quality and selection of the draught beers was up to the usual high standard. The sole barman on duty on the 23rd was not particularly welcoming and had a very surly attitude ( his accent semed to be American). However, normal friendly service... More
Along a side road away from the center of Grasmere, we fell into this restaurant on a wet autumn day and couldn't have felt more at home with other hikers, dog owners and beer lovers. Ordered the beer bat so we could sample several excellent real ales. Food was tasty and quickly served despite the crowds. We'll be back.
Initial impressions were not great - we went for a quick pint on a Monday afternoon after the weekend beer festival but even allowing for that the staff were clipped and the atmosphere dead. And it was full of teenagers who seemed to be notionally in charge but not really doing anything. Maybe they were just tired because over the... More
