Good Food, Warm Welcome

Ate here on two successive evenings. Both occasions the food was very good. Had the daube of beef bourguignon with mash & veg - the meat hardly needed chewing & the sauce was very good indeed. Good selection of beers, local & not so local, with efficient friendly service. I'd certainly eat here again after a day in the hills.

Surprisingly was actually a nice lunchtime visit. We always wonder whether national companies take pride in their estate's. Well take a bow Best Western. Very good food and real ales (B).

I asked for a gin and tonic and was given a beautiful gin and tonic (by Daniel) with lots of ice, pink pepper corns and a sprig of rosemary. It looked tasted and smelled lovely. Thank you Daniel. For our meal we had burgers which were thick and juicy, really nice chunky chips too. Great little pub.

This is the pub connected to the Red Lion Hotel, good range and quality of food, and an even better range of hand pulled ale, pleasant surroundings, friendly staff, ideal for a bite to eat and a beer.

We dropped in for a couple of drinks and a main course each on a walk from Ambleside to Grasmere and back. Both mains were pretty good. Service good. No complaints :)

As there seems to be a lack of pubs in Grasmere we called in here as it looked better than the rest. It was very cramped and noisy. We had considered eating here but when we saw the standard of food being served to other customers we didn't bother. Its only saving grace was the good selection of beers and... More

This is a very busy bar that caters for everyone. Food portions are plentiful and good value for money. We waited only 20 mins which I believe is very acceptable in a full restaurant. The service was fantastic, very friendly and helpful staff. We really enjoyed our visit.

This a place to go and quench your thirst and not your hunger. While they serve some very good quality beers and wine I wouldn't eat here again if they had the only empty table in Grasmere and I had stepped down from Fairfield after an all day walk. I had a filled Yorkshire Pudding. The beers obviously travel a... More
