Above average and tolerant of mud, dogs, boots etc

After a long walk, the choice in Grasmere is huge. The Lamb Inn ( one end of Red Lion hotel - bit confusing?) is a safe bet for dinner. 3 ales on tap, wide menu. Quick service, food ample and tasty eg large Yorkshire pud with Cumberland sausage, veg & lots of gravy.

We had tea here on our arrival in Grasmere and it was good value and good portion sizes. They do allow dogs in (as do a lot of places) so be aware of this in case you don't like that.

We visited the Lamb several times in our visit to Grasmere. We ate there twice. The menu was varied and food well cooked and presented (the only disappointing meal was one Giant Yorkshire Pudding - compared to others eaten over the week). We could take our dogs which was an added advantage, The staff were friendly and the overall atmosphere... More

Waited 1 hour and 40 minutes for food, only to be served with cold and undercooked food! When we asked to speak to the manager we got greeted by a condescending arrogant young man who clearly had no customer service skills. He continued by arguing with us what our actual waiting time was! - there were at least 3 other... More

The lads serving in The Lamb Inn were friendly and took our orders without any problem. The starter, bread with oil and dips, was lovely - very filling. Probably too filling as I cold not finish all the bread in my burger! My wife had the 'Tasty Chicken' which lived up too its name. Good honest food at good honest... More

This was my birthday dinner and I must admit I was a bit disappointed going for the Yorkshire pud filled with Beef and veg. The beef was dry as if it had been under the warmer for a while and to be honest the portion size was pretty poor and I am a small eater. If I had wanted a... More

Unfortunately every one of our drinks was wrong ( we complained about the kids cordial being made with soda water and if was replaced but once all the adult drinks arrived wrong we gave... More

Homely pub attached to a hotel in centre of Grasmere. Nice for a quick pitstop. No objections to boots and dogs
