It's just a lovely place. Made to feel welcome, so ended up there 3 nights on the trot! Relaxing music.

Visited with my daughter as we were staying on a local caravan site and this was the closest pub serving food. We both had steak and ale pie, which was the plate type with shortcrust pastry and made a nice change from the usual puff pastry lid type. Everything was well cooked and the service was friendly.

Food wasn't amazing or anything, but it was tasty and pretty good value for money. Fairly sure my pie's pastry was microwaved. Nice beer

A few local real ales on tap and a reasonably priced and varied menu. Didn't eat here so can't comment on quality but there were a few folk dining. We just sat on the benches on the front (no beer garden) after a walk up the Old Man of Coniston. That's the best bit - this pub is right at... More

After a long bike ride we stopped off at the Ship Inn and had a spot of lunch. The Landlord was incredibly helpful and served us after lunch had finished. The Ship Inn is in a lovely location and well worth the visit for some hearty food and good company.

This pub has everything, warm reception, good food, friendly clientele, and a fireside for warming up after a, Old Man of Coniston hike.

good atmosphere, in a quaint local pub, very good variety of food available, and a large specials board, friendly staff, quick efficient service, this is a small pub, the food is what good value for money. our only criticism is that they allow dogs into the eating area, and they are not segregated from the people without any, we are... We visited here may bank holiday after our LONG walk up coniston old man . Was dying for pie. & pint and this didn't disappoint . The home made steak and ale pie was great- just what we needed and the owners seemed nice enough although food took about an hour to arrive. We were confused as we assumed the... More

Called in for a couple of drinks while out for a walk. Only had £7 with us and the drinks came to £7.10 but the landlord said it wasn't a problem. While chatting to him he said he had taken over the pub last november, so please ignore the terrible reviews which relate to the previous landlord! A friendly and... More
