I ate here with 4 friends after a day out on the hill so were were really hungry. The service was pretty good and we didn't have to wait too long for our food which was served more or less all at once so no one felt they had to wait. The food was great and we had fairly generous... More

Billed as good pub food. Limited choice soup, crab salad or a roast it was empty and there was a hour wait. Wouldnt bother.

Called in on spec after the bank holiday. Menu was limited but tasty and the staff were spectacularly good.

We had tried to find somewhere to eat in Coniston with out luck but came across The Ship on the way out of the town. It was bouncing, and we were on the point of giving up when a table became available, the landlord quickly cleared up the table for us. The food was fabulous, the beer great and the... More

We discovered this pub on the first night of our week long stay in Bowmanstead, it was less than a 5 minute walk from our cottage, so went for a drink the staff were friendly and welcoming so we decided to go for Sunday lunch the next day, and were not disappointed. The food was excellent with generous portions, a... More

The proprietor of the cottage where we were staying recommended this place. Friendly pub, good service and hearty food. I enjoyed the steak and black pudding pie. Good local beers too. Excellent value and we will definitely visit again if in the area.

Landlord and staff were always very friendly and welcoming which gives the pub a nice atmosphere. Along with good beer and good value food it had all we were after from a pub. Would highly recommend and will visit again next time i'm in the area.

Beer quality was good and reasonably priced. Food was also great tasting and worth the walk from Coniston centre if that's your starting point. Negatives would be a warm interior and limited no. Of outdoor tables/seats

very comfortable and cozy liitle pub on the outskirts of Coniston Village, on the Torver road. beers are very good as is the food. the barman while we were visiting was a cheeky Geordie so we felt at home, "Bonnie Lad" we will visit again next time we're in Coniston, definitely.

We arrived 8.10 and was told we could order food if quick. The sign clearly says 8.45 last orders for food! We ordered quickly and our food arrived in no time as it was quite empty. The food was good and the pizza was very good. For the price its a good stop but not sure what it would be... More
