So cosy

Went in here for a drink after walking and on our way back to the Wilson Arms. It was very cosy, warm with a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Had a large roaring log fire so didn't want to move. The locals who came in were very friendly and came over talking to us, it is also dog friendly. The toilets... read more

If you visited The Ship before Jim and Julie took it over in October last year you MUST visit again. You will get a great welcome, lovely fire and great food. Very extensive menu, substantial portions and good value. I have no hesitation in recommending this pub.

A chilly but sunny, winter circular walk broken in half at the ship for a fabulous Sunday lunch. Reasonable kids portion too. Warming real fire & good Guinness with friendly reception. This place is "oldy-worldy" proper traditional not tacky repro. A real gem tucked away from the main village but worth the short walk. Everything clean & comfy, lovely newly... More

We have recently stayed in Coniston and was looking for a pub that served traditional 'pub grub'. The Ship Inn did not disappoint, we found the menu to be varied. The food was lovely and we left feeling full, great portion sizes. The staff were very friendly, and there was a lovely open fire. We will definitely return on our... More

We visited The Ship as a party of 4 for an evening meal. Very friendly atmosphere with excellent Landlord. The food was really nice but unfortunately took quite a long time to arrive after ordering at the bar. However, despite that, it was worth waiting for. My wife had a really tasty scampi and chicken was excellent too for the... More

I ate here with a group of family and friends. There was a good choice of food including 4 vegetarian options all of which looked nice. Within our group we had 2 of them and they were very nice. All meals were enjoyed and the vegetables in particular were cooked perfectly. There was a good range of deserts which were... More

We went here and found a warm fire burning and a friendly welcome from the publican and his wife. They were also happy for us to take the dog along too. It felt very cosy. I had the liver and my husband the Cumberland sausages. Both were served with mash and a selection of veg, which were not over-cooked. Was... More
