We called in for a drink and we felt very unwelcome no atmosphere we actually felt as though we were intruding!! We would never go back and no wonder the place was empty they do not deserve any business with their unwelcoming attitude, would never call in there again. Shame because it is in a lovely position.

Called in here for Sunday Lunch while staying at Caravan Club Park Coppice. Staff were great, meal took a while to come but we were a bit early. Food was excellent, beer also. Atmosphere with roaring open fire was real old world. We will be back no doubt about that.

This is an extent pub just out of the village centre, open fires, decent food, excellent outdoor seating area, pet friendly and best of all friendly staff!

A well-kept pint here, though the bar area was swimming in stale ale so we didn't hold out much hope for cleanliness in the areas we couldn't see and went elsewhere for a meal.

Only stopped for a couple of beers after a long walk. Lovely beers, good selection, not full of those smooth, creamy beers others in Coniston serve. Good atmosphere too around the fire. Will definitely try and stay here next time we visit Coniston. Mike, Sevenoaks

We called around 2ish hoping for Sunday lunch. The barman was a bit off hand ,we had to clear our own table and the cost of a glass of wine and a pint of1664 at £9.80 was a bit breathtaking. We almost left but diners at another table assured us the Sunday lunch was fine. The service was prompt and the... More

Caught in the teaming rain coming back from hill climbing. Met with a roaring fire & a nice pint of Old Man but no Copper Dragon as advertised on the website. Not put off we went back up later that evening & to be told that the kitchen closes at 20:30 on a Saturday night. We had 5 minutes to... More

Liked the open fire, very restricted lunchtime menu, staff too busy decorating for Halloween, total lack of atmosphere

Welcoming fire, tasty food with decent choice, good service. Would revisit. Like that they welcome dogs.

The menu was not a lot of use as most of the listed meals were off. Very disappointing having had decent meals here in the past. Did have the Fish and Chips which was ok. Even run out of ice cream so sweet menu compromised. Coniston is quite busy every weekend even out of season so I cannot understand how... More
