Meal at the Yewdale

Average meal on plastic plates, very noisy as well. Should have gone to the Black Bull with hindsight.

My extended family of 12 people arrived at noon the day after Bank Holiday Monday, 26th May 2015 looking forward to lunch. and went in to be greeted by a very rude man who said,,,"Yes"? We said we were there for lunch to which he replied that he was cleaning the beer pipes and wasn't open yet (despite the pub... More

Called in after a long day out exploring Lakes and coast. As it was slightly late, not everything on the menu was available. But we greatly enjoyed what we did have - local black pudding (heavenly, delicate taste of rosemary), bacon and salad; good local cheeseboard; first-ever taste of sticky toffee pudding. Good wines, very pleasant and extremely welcoming service.... More

Upon entering this pub/restaurant all staff were very friendly - but unfortunately my food order did not meet expectations. Whilst I was promised home made Quiche what arrived was soggy and microwaved with a packet salad of spinach and rocket that clashed terribly with a poor tasting sprinkle of balsamic vinegar attempt of a salad dressing. Fortunately the bar staff... More

We compared the offerings in Coniston and found this very nice eatery. Relaxed atmosphere, nice space, friendly staff, unpretentious menu, good value for money.

We stopped here for tea after a long day of walking. The pub itself is fine, maybe a little bit tired. The staff were very friendly though and welcomed us and our cocker spaniel, she even got a bowl of water and a biscuit which was a nice touch. The menu was fairly standard pub food but enough choice to... More

Sorry to say - but after travelling around the world and sampling some great pubs, and some quite interesting ones - this has to be the WORST, RUDEST pub I have had the misfortune to ever go into. Out for a fantastic day on Easter Sunday - 3 generations of family met up at Coniston for a little walk, play... More

The Facts Speak for Themselves Lets stick to the facts as you clearly could not. 1. It was Easter Sunday, one of the busiest days of the year in this beautiful Lake District Village. 2. Our Café/Restaurant was open and a fully booked for evening service from 18.15 onwards, as were most of the pub tables. 3. You came into... More

Popped in for an evening meal. Was greeted with a cheery welcome. Locals and tourists were enjoying the venue. The barman was very helpful, and friendly. The XL burger was fantastic and the beer well kept. Would visit again and recommend to friends.

We called in for an early evening meal on a wet Saturday in March. There was a good choice of meals & desserts on the menu - in the end we chose the quiche (£8) and the rib-eye steak (£18), both with salad although there was a choice of chips or jacket potatoes plus vegetables and peppercorn sauce for the...
