A lucky find - just right for breakfast

Having stayed overnight with friends at the local Travelodge, we looked for somewhere good to have breakfast and found the Coffee House. It lived exactly up to our expectations. The artisan bakery on the ground floor attracted us in. The room upstairs opened out to welcome us. The food was... read more

Fantastic americano or espresso, always served with a smile and kind word. Seating available at a table or comfy sofas. Daily and weekly newspapers available. Tray bakes delicious but on the large side.

We visited the birthplace of Wordsworth, Cockermouth, recently and it is a very quaint, nice town. After some shopping (sale at the Ice Pick (?), where we bought a lot of buffs, socks and the like), the woman in the shop recommended Coffee Kitchen as a good lunch place. Really cozy, lots of people, but the salad my wife chose... More

Called in for a lunchtime snack as we were dining at our hotel. We each had a big bowl of delicious homemade tomato and basil soup, accompanied by two slices of the best wholemeal bread I have had in a long time, baked on the premises. We had a bottle of sparkling water and the bill came to well under... More

Lovely soup & homemade bread - really nice on a cold wet day! Only downside is that it is so popular you can't always get a table!

We decided to try The Coffee Kitchen as it had received such good reviews. However, apart from a rather dull and uninteresting interior we were very disappointed at not only the size of the regular coffee cups but also with the coffee. My Americano was rather soupy and had a peculiar flavour which left a strange taste in my mouth.... More

We had coffee here on the basis of rave TripAdvisor reviews. Unfortunately our experience didn't match these. The coffee, whilst strong, lacked flavour and was not as hot as it could have been. The cakes were overpriced for what they were. A shame.

After visiting here a couple of times before for tea, coffee & cake we thought it'd make a great place to meet-up with some friends and catch-up. It was mid-morning on Saturday and we thought we'd avoid the rush grab a coffee and a bite before enjoying a walk around Cockermouth whilst catching up with friends and rather than going... More

When I review a place I rarely give out a 5 star and I rarely give out a 1 star. I also rarely respond to reviews because I think most of them stand for themselves. Visitors and readers can make up their own minds about a particular review and the person making the review. However, when someone post a one... More

Good atmosphere. Pleasant staff. Very good coffee and food. The raspberry heart shaped brownie is amazing!

Coffee Kitchen is the "go to" cafe for me and friends to meet for a light lunch in Cockermouth. The service is efficient and very friendly, the food is really tastey and is consistently fresh and well cooked. They have a wide range of seriously good coffee and we usually have their house coffee which is the cheapest but all... More
