Many of the recommended restaurants in Cockermouth are closed on Monday nights and, to find an alternative to (though decent yet repetitive) pub food, we chose this place as it offered salads as large and small portions. The ingredients were lovely yet the presentation was sparse: the small/starter-sized salads weren't more than a side dish and served in even smaller... More

Had dinner here. Cumberland sausages, chive mash and glazed carrots. Very poor - mash looked and tasted like smash, sausages were decidedly average. On the positive side the staff are good. Overall and for the price there are better places in Cockermouth !

We had friends up for the weekend so went here on Friday night. We just had the olives and focaccia bread for starters (2 portions) which was enough. I had the crab salad (one of the specials) with a portion of chips, Margaret had the fish pie, Janet had the lamb henry and Dennis had Cajun beef. We all had... More

Looking for lunch, we went into Carlin's which was empty. Eventually caught the attention of a lady and placed our order for food and drink, explaining that two of our party had food allergies. The order was taken and we awaited the outcome. What a pleasant surprise we received when the dishes were presented. Every one commented on the excellent... More

I've been here well over ten times, for my birthday, with friends and with my partner. I can never fault it, the food is always delicious and well sourced. The staff and pleasant and willing I explain some dishes to you. I would highly recommend and definitely will be back!

Carlin's has a fantastic atmosphere; it is a warm, welcoming place where the staff are relaxed - not so much that they are asleep, but enough so that they will smile and engage with you naturally. The food was presented beautifully and I can honestly say that it was the best steak I have had; perfectly cooked. It really is... More

Popped in to have a drink with my husband while the kids were at a party. They weren't very busy but we were made to feel very welcome. We decided to have some chips and onion rings to snack on, the chips were lovely as were the huge onion rings. We will be back for a proper meal.

Great location in Cockermouth, very friendly staff and efficient service get top marks. Seats outside are a fantastic place to soak up the sun and people watch. The Friday night Prosecco deal is very good value. Food inside is not bad, but there are better eating out options available in town. Specifically, expected more from the lamb shanks, given the...
